Has anyone thought of buying that cheap CAI from MustangTuning.com and chopping...

Cheaper alternative to the C&L True Flow inlet pipe?

Chopping that extra bend off that goes into the fender that is said to cause so many problems. I was thinking about getting an 80mm C&L MAF, chop off that extra bend on that MAC immitation CAI from mustangtuning and be done with it. I think this would yield just as good of results as C&L's true flow inlet pipe. (It would be a straight shot up to the TB, no turns at all before the MAF) What do you all think? Here's the CAI I'm talking about.

I currently have the Accufab 70mm TB / plenum combo. (sweet feelable gain by the way )

sounds like a good idea, not expencive either... heck, if u see goos gains i thik anyone would try it out, but u have to be the first :) cant see why it wouldt work. im sure u'll start a trend if you see comparable gains to the likes of the bigger budget companies.

I'll buy it and chop off that bend so it is the same design as the K&N FIPK then dyno it. I understand that the bend is the only downside to that CAI, been causing wierd a/f ratios, removing it should fix the problem.

By doing that, you will have basically the same thing I do (minus the heat shield) and it will be $130 less. Why didn't I think of this :(

Sounds like a good idea to me for $69.

I have the same cai except that mine is made out of some form of high temperature plastic, and cutting the bend off is exactly what I'm planning to do once the weather warms up here. Gotta love $40 ebay cai's. :)

Hey It looks like your using the stock MAF you need a C&L 85mm for soem good rwhp gains!
Just my .02

Thats what i did to mine. worked great, and i cant belive the difference. The car feels better, i didnt thinkit would make a difference, but it did. the only reason i did it was becausr c&l said their MAFs dont like those fenderwells. Anyway, go for it
