Ok dumb question #23-If I order a set of gears from Ford and have them installed by Ford will this void a warranty or is it dependent on each dealership?

I seriuously doubt it, why not ask your service rep?

Why do you want different gears? The stock 3.55's in the 03's/04's are pretty close to perfect. Just wondering....

Since I'm in the service and I move from place to place, what one says can be possibly wrong for another I was thinking. And as for changing gears most of my cars have had 4.10s in them. And from reading 4.30s are awesome set also. Basically it was just a thought before I put any time or MONEY into it.

I agree with U.M.

4:10/4:30 were great in N/A cobras but I don't think you will be real happy with them in an 03.

My buddy has a 93 fox body with 3:73s, After we installed an S trim and he's putting out 522 RWHP he switched to 3:27s

Our cars have more than enough torque to blow the tires away with the stock 3.55's. You go much lower than a 3.90 and 1st gear will be all but useless.

I see your point about moving from dealership to dealership because of your service commitment. What branch? I'm retired AF myself.

I'm trying to think of an instance where a service department would come back and say, "Sorry, were not going to warranty XXXX because you aren't running the stock 3.55 gear ratio".

I guess if you took the car in for a leaking or broken differential cover, broken half-shaft, or even a broken driveshaft, the dealer could deny warranty coverage due to the lower gear ratio. Then again, how would they know the gears weren't the stock 3.55's?

If you have a mod friendly dealer, they'll only void the warranty on the rear axle assembly. But it might cause you problems elsewhere in the drivetrain with warranty issues if you break something...they'll blame it on the gears.
