im gonna be building a 393 and was wondering fow good stock 93 windsor rods are. they came out of a truck motor. im probably gonna be shootin for around 500hp at the flywheel. i might also be using a 351 mexican block thats early 70's. wondering if anyoone knew what kind of advantages ill have with the block. i know theyre thicker but i didnt know if there would be clearance problems. ive got a buddy thats a early ford guru and he never even heard of a mexican 351. but the kid assures me that thats what it is.

imo , 500 hp may be right at the limit of stock rods, IF you use good rod bolts, and possible side-polish (to remove stress-risers) and shotpeen the rods. I've seen new I beam eagle rods on ebay for around 220 (they list in summit for 310) and considering the money you would spend re-doing stock rods, you might want consider new. The eagle rods are rated at 500 hp.
