Alright, heres a question I have. I have a 351W crankshaft not being used because my dad and I stroked out his 351W to a 408. I want to stroke out my 88 302. And my question is that could I put the 351W crankshaftin the 302 block and buy new connecting rods and pistons? Would that work?

That was a fairly common procedure before all of the nice stroker kits came on the market. They would offset grind the crank to use ford 2.3 liter rods, resize the rods to chevy wrist pin size and use an off the shelf chevy piston.

It wasn't cheap.

Also, I believe that it was a risky proposition. Not all cranks can be ground that far without messing up the oil holes.

Your machinist will appretiate new parts.

I dont think it would cost much to get the crank turned down. I wonder what ci that would yield and which rods and pistons you would need to use.

3/4 of an inch turndown on a crank cheap? No way. Cheaper to buy the right stuff the first time.
