quick alternator question

I dont know if the alts from the late models interchange, or will bolt up. I know the SN 95 stangs V6 alts will work, you just have to grind a bit off the bracket to make it fit. You will need to upgrade your wiring too, to handle the increase in current that is possible with these alts. As far as measuring current draw while its on the car and running, I have a clamp on AC/DC ammeter. It cost me $100. PM me if you want more details or ask here for all to see. I have personally verified its accuracy and its much easier to use than other methods which involve installing shunts inline in the circuit.

What do you mean it acts the same? Is there a problem? Its gonna put out the same amount of amperage as the old one, unless the old one could not keep up with demand. That is providing the load is the same, you didnt change anything else did you? Did you upgrade the wiring, or just swap them out?

i upgraded the wiring, grinded the bracket all that good stuff i just dont see a difference the volts still drop the same on the gauge as it use to with the 65 amp alternator i was just curious if the 99 v6's had the 130 amp or not cause that is the alternator i had gotten for free

You know, the same thing happened to me. I seemed to charge a little better, but not as good as expected. It would still damn near stall when I came to a stop and had the a/c and stereo bumping. I was wonder if perhaps it has the wrong pulley on it. Perhaps the 99 v6's came with a different pully?
