Well the title says it all.. I have dicided not to go with a Vortech. Reason being im not trying to buid a strip car. Ive never been to the track and really dont want to go fearing i'll get the time slip bug..
As of now im going for the 9psi Intercooled. Yet still trying to swallow $5500..
Im selling the bullitt intake thus will help the cost.. ( Im going to miss this.. It looks so damn cool.. B C, Now i know how you feel..)

Im going to get 03' Cobra tank and pumps, I really dont like the Bust-A-Pump.. i dont like the idea of overclocking my stock pumps. -$199
Im trying to find a 03' Cobra intercooler reservoir, I dont like the looks of KB reservoir.. it looks like a AC canister to me..

I have some questions..
Where could i find a cobra intercooler reservoir ? ive looked but have yet to find one.. Im might not be looking for the right thing.. part # could help..
Im thinking about keeping the Bullitt/Cobra alternator.. Will i need to grind on it ?
Could i just buy a lightning mass air.. like from JDM and a 75mm TB..? $700 + $240 seems alittle high for the KB.. Or should i even get them ?
What do you think of the BBK 75mm TB ?

Im planing on installing it my self.. although i was quoted $700.. Only problem is i didnt install my bullitt intake, so i know ill run into something..
I want to save as much money as i can yet do it the right way.. also extra info, my Stang turn 50 the other day.. :banana:

check out page 186 of the new 5.0 mag , there is a right up about an upgrade from the stock 03 cooler , made by AFCO , 30 percent better cooling over a stock one , that should hook it up nicely

I would call KB and talk to them about what you want/need. I think the boost a pump may be better for you. It already comes with the kit. Go to their site www.kennebell.net and read the write up on the boost a pump.

That made me feel better.. plus it will be cheaper in the end.. Cobra tank and pumps.. $500-$700

About the coolant resivour Chicane's looks nice but im sure they want a pretty penny for them.. The Saleen and cobra are what im looking for.. Id like to try to make it clean and stock lookin.. Also the Roush is not to bad either..
Monday im going to call one of the Ford dealers here.. More than likely ill just mount the KB by the coolant overflow..

The Alternator.. Ill give KB a call.. Ill also ask about the Lightning mass air and the BBK 75mm TB.. but im sure they'll tell me that i need to buy theres..

You will be surprised. Kenne Bell will not push anything. The MAF is a Ford Lightning 90mm maf and the throttle body is a Acufab 75mm. They do not hide that info. So if you can pick those up yourself cheaper somewhere else, more power to you. Just let them know when you order the kit that you have those items so they will adjust the tune accordingly. Yeah but he said he wants a street machine. You would have to be in higher rpms to get the boost you want on the street. The KB will only affect mileage if you punch it. Normal driving does not go into boost.
 
As others have mentioned, you should first get ahold of Ken or Jim @ KB. They together or individually can set you straight on all just what's best for your individual application, the parts needed (if there are to be any from a base intercooled kit) and the various details of the components they use, why they use them, octane and your longblock requirements per the kinda boost you'll want to push, as well as the fuel requirements and related parts.

I opted myself for the Chicane intercooler tank (~ $140 from Chicane Sport Tuning) for a couple of reasons. One, I'm running this set-up on a '96 EEC-V DIS coil-pak application and obvioulsy "space" was at a premium and I couldn't even attempt the mini-coffee can 'drum' like tank KB uses for the COP '99+ Stang applications. It also holds a bit more volume (about 20-24fl. oz. extra) than the vertically mounted cylindrical tank. Of course I and Mr. Mike Siska (EECDOC) who actually was the man behind my 'install' faced and had to overcome a variety of 'fab-as-you-go' type issues due to the '96 platform even while the longblock is actually a race-prepped "built" piece, so not much is anything resembling 'stock' any longer -but we still faced fitment and alterations to the Stang owners in order to make it all LIVE!

KB's released their Bullitt specific "kit" and you won't be able to keep and use your Bullitt alt. with the GT kit unless you get w/KB for some additional alt. brackets/mounts as the pulley alignment won't line up along the serpentine drive belt orientation as when using a '99+ GT-Stang OEM alt. (believe me, I "know" this from experience, as I was running a quasi-Bullitt engine set-up aka: "BullittBird" powerplant prior to the KB install) and we found this out quickly. It's now fitted with an '01-'02 Stang alt. to go with KB's '99+ T-1000 GT kit.

I also opted for the 'full-monte' of upgrades, Big Tube kit, 75mm TB, and have a FULL pocket of pulley selections to play with. Fuel gets there through custom -06 AN lines from both a 255lph in-tank with the BAP wired in and set for full use, as well as a tandom 255lph 'in-line' pump that was added all to maintain a 'wider-than-maybe-necessary' safety margin of fuel psi and vol. flow into the custom rails I had to go with due to it, again, being a '96 T-Bird! :nice:

It will hopefully be tuned this weekend and I'll chime in with the results how it behaves on an IRS auto. slush-box 'hybrid' '96 MN12 platform once all is done w/tweaking the X's and O's, 1's and 2's as they say. :banana:

Boy if that isn't some total :bs: I dont know what is. How many times do we have to tell you guys that a twin screw supercharger is NOT going to get worse gas mileage. The only possible way it would is if you floor your car from 1000 rpms up every time you get on it. The only reason for that is IF you put the throttle down more than 1/2 you will start to build boost instantly. That is your not going to put the throttle down more than half everytime you take off. And if you do you can expect to get horrible gas mileage supercharger or not and irregardless of which supercharger you have. There is also the issue of efficiency but we wont even get into that. And about the 5500 more hp and tq...you get what you pay for.

I would just stick with the Boost a Pump as everyone else is suggesting. Its not like overclocking your current setup because boost a pump is proven to work without any drawbacks. IF you have any problems then you could go with a 03 cobra fuel setup. But why waste the money when every person that has a KB that we've seen on here has successfully run their cars with the boost a pump with no issue.

How many people drive their car like a Crown Vic every day?
I can put my throttle down more than half, but as long as I short shift , or dont run up too many r's, I never see more than 1 or 2 lbs..
I got much worse mileage with my roots type cars in the past...
I guess every application is different.
So in effect, your corrct, the Charger dosent make worse gas mileage, but the driver will...{especially when he first gets it...} :)

Ok man if you say so. Roots is NOT the same as twin screw. Roots style produces ALOT more heat reducing power output...moreoever they are considerably less efficient and both things will affect fuel economy.

Ok let me get this straight. You hate the KB cause it gives out horrible gas mileage because you like to stab the throttle right off idle. But you love the centrifugal that wont build any boost so its like driving a stock car off the line because it gives you good gas mileage???????

WHAT IN THE HELL KINDA SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? :rolleyes:
