Awesome to see some comp. for the Stang, I hope the big 3 all revive/keep the new gen muscle cars going. I'm not sure about the 4 door idea though, gonna have to wait and see I guess.

Cool. I would like to see a new Charger. Some real competition for the Mustang would be a good thing. If Chrysler makes the Charger and GM does right with the GTO, the big three could be in another horsepower war and that would be a win-win situation for us all, regarldess of our brand loyalty.

American Muscle will live forever :flag:

Looks like an Intrepid with a body kit. Come on Chrysler.

THat is the Concept from 1999, who knows what the 2006 production car will look like. It is good to see RWD performance back at Dodge again. Hopfully it is a big hit and like ElCid2006 said, it will be win-win for all Modern Muscle car fans.

The article specifically mentions "sedan". This thing will have 4 doors, probably look like the magnum wagon with a trunk.

Sadly, it sounds like a pony car is still a few years off.

GMC better get it's ass in gear.

I can guarantee out of the "BIG 3", Ford will be #3 as usual(or last really).
How so? Right now with the three cars mentioned(Charger GTO Mustang Cobra) they are at a solid number one(well compared against the GTO we will see about the Charger) and that's on an old no longer going to be made platform.
I think Ford will keep it close with their mid range and upper level SVT products.

As for this news....great! Now just let's see what it looks like. Don't knock the 4 doors yet they said it's going to have 2 suicides and I think the RX-8 pulls that look off well.
And a 2 door coupe according to rumor mill is right around the corner so in 07 we just might see a three way pony car war. Mustang,Challenger, and Camaro....ahhh yeah I'm liking that.

Just base models, the Mustang will be the slowest of all the group.

When you tack on COBRAS or what not, then there is competition, then comes the heafty price tag.
Yeah but these Chargers are not likely to be cheap. Expect very high 20s low 30s. When the GT comes in at around 25k I wouldn't expect it to be faster than a car that is a good 4-5k bucks more expensive. Pretty much the same reason why I don't really compare the 05 GT to the GTO. Yeah the performance hypothetically could be close but the price tag isn't. I'd expect the same with the Charger if it shapes up to be what people are touting it to be.
Oh and the rumors are it'll have a V6 stock the 4.7 V8 as an option and the Charger R/T will get the 5.7 or 6.1 litre Hemi.
If anything the 4.7 V8 would be the one that would likely be in the same price category as the 05 GT and I wouldn't bet that it would be putting out over 300 horses and I highly doubt the car would be lighter than the current Stang.

Why dont you get rid of your sorry ass mustang and go buy another vehicle. I'm so sick and tired of seeing your negative posts over and over. For your information the 05 mustang will have 300+ hp (and most likely will be underrated). It will also be superior in many aspects to any other mass produced rwd v8 sports coupe made today. If you dont like mustangs DONT BUY THEM. But to come on here consistantly and talk down the very car that has survived through thick and thin the longest of any ever...well i think you have NO RIGHT!

As for the charger concept....PLEASE dont make 4 door that will be a dissapointment. I guess suicide doors would be the best if you HAVE to have 4 doors. I'm not holding my breath though dodge has screwed many things up in the past. I just love how automakers spokespersons will just lie. They've said multiple times there will NOT be a charger. Now there will be. Sigh...

What is negative about it?

What a jerk you are...

The Mustang is the least expensive of the group, and will fall short as always due to the other manufacturers more expensive machinery and price tag.

The COBRA was rumored to have a $40k price tag, but then again that is suppose to be over the price of the others.

Um no its not. First off there is no competition. When there is we will certainly talk about it. But you are so eager to bash ford and the mustang more specifically. Its extremely aggitating especially considering its totally unwarranted. And to think you actually own one just extremely surprises me. The mustang has always been successful not by its extreme performance but its style, exhaust tone, and sex appeal. It has a heritage that thrives on that...we all want extreme performance but for a reasonable price they are not going to give us viper performance. Its just not possible.

I think what yellow5.0cobra is saying is that The Mustangs entry level V8 has always been behind the others in performance. 5.0L vs. LT1, 4.6L vs. LS1. and chances are the new 3v 4.6L will will fall short of the entry level V8 Chager. My guesses for Charger HP are 350HP for the 5.7L, 425HP for the 6.1L.

Ford has some great engine tech coming down the pipeline with the 3v engines, but they lack displacement, Just imagine if they would give us a 5.7L version of the 3v V8

Uhm. The GTO and Mach 1 are almost dead even. The Mach 1 and 05 Mustang GT are going to be pretty much even in straight-line performance. Thusly, it stands to reason that the GTO and Mustang GT will be pretty even.

What does that have to due with the Charger?
