I have done a search and cannot find any info on speed cals. The two I have seen are the brothers performance one and dallas mustang they are both around 80 dollars. Ive heard dont go with the dallas mustang from someone is one better than the other? And are there any out there that are cheaper?

I have had the DM speedcal for about 6 months with no problems.

You have an '03 though. Why are you going with a speedcal? You can get a burn, ford can fix it, you can get a programmer. Why are you choosing to go with a speedcal?

Also, you have a manual trany...I think speedcal only works on Auto's. I could be wrong, but I would double check.

Bulldog6Z6:

DM makes the SpeedCal. Brothers' sells it under their house label, for a little less money, too. Nice product with factory style connectors, excellent installation instructions w/plenty of clear pictures, and the DM website has a calibration calculator for any oddball combination that you can throw at it. It will work fine with your +99 MANUAL transmission.

It is a fine product backed up with excellent customer support. Do a search and you will find that when people have problems (not many considering the number of units sold/in use), "TriBlkCobra" (designer of said SpeedCal) is there to help find the solution. No spam, just giving you my experience. My SpeedCal is almost 3 years old and still going strong.

Hope this helps.

I skipped the speedcal for my gears. I pulled my computer and sent it to T&J Perf to have it recalibrated for my 3.73's. It cost me $75 plus shipping. Works great! Best part is that there is no 'extra' module to mount, the program is Ford-friendly (saves repair/warranty issues), and it ended up a little cheaper when figuring shipping.

DarkHorse164:

Excellent point. I didn't even know 'reflashing' for gears was an option for a +99 5-speed but now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense (PCM-based speedo/odo).

Thanks for the info.

Does the SpeedCal work for 94's??
I saw on the Brothers site $84.99 but the page is confusing.

It says: Brother Speedcal All 1994-2003 Mustangs (5-speed only)

below it says a must for all gear swaps on 1999-2002 Mustangs

and farther down the page it says: Can also use on 94-98 mustangs.

I called to make sure, and they said it would not work on my Cobra, but I know I have seen someone posting here that has a 95 GTS that has one on his.

Does anyone know FOR SURE if it will work on my vehicle?
94 Cobra / T-5 / 3.73's

Right from the Dallas Mustang website:

"SPEED-CAL,94-2003,5-SPD,94-98 AUTOMATICS"

so it will work in your case.

I suggest that you post your same question in the DM site Tech Forum (SpeedCal section) and have the erstwhile "TriBlkCobra" give you the official answer! What I found in that Tech Forum shows the SpeedCal will indeed work with your setup.

Good luck.
