Lately, I've been noticing a "knock" that comes from the lower-driver side of the engine compartment. I can hear it if I listen between the driver-side wheel and the fender. It's more noticeable in the car and the frequency of the sound increases with the engine speed up to a certain point (1500+ RPM) then it goes away (Or I just can't hear it anymore). It's much more noticeable when hot than cold.
It reminds me of the "Fuel Cackle" the powerstrokes had where it sounds like someone is hitting the inside of the cylinder with a ball-peen hammer.
I've attached a wav file with the recording of the powerstroke "cackle". Now, my my car obviously doesn't sound like a diesel and the "knock" I have isn't as loud, but it gives you an idea as to the frequency and general idea of the sound. Powerstroke Cackle
I thought this might be the head "tick" I've heard about, but it sounds much deeper than that.
Any ideas?
Riley
