I had my check engine light come on the other day, so i had the codes pulled and it came up as a p1131 code. I figured out that it could be many things. My only real question is that the other day the light went off. Last time i took my car in it did the same thing, the guy told me the car stores the code and there could still be a problem. Well do i really need to take my car in if the light went off? The car runs fine, so i dont want to have to pay for nothing.

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1.

I would try replacing the front driver side ( i think thats bank 1 ) oxygen sensor .

I didn't know for the longest time. I had to find out once I had an 02 sensor problem. It would make sense that they would make the drivers side bank 1, but I guess someone didn't think so. Go figure.

You can get a software like Autotap and it will should let you know if your sensors are actually working. If not then you can get a haynes manual, and they have a procedure for checking them. Better to spend $20 to do it yourself than $80 at Ford.
