The time has come for me to start modding the 99GT. I want to do the basic bolt ons first(of course). The car already has flowmaster exhaust and an off-road h-pipe. Im looking into CAI and Underdrive pulleys next, also what throttle body and headers? What are the best brands of each...what im asking is which brands give the most HP and are the best quality for the buck. I appreciate any help you guys and girls can offer. One more thing, how will 3.55:1 gears affect the fuel mileage of my stang...right now im getting about 19-20 in the city limits and 25-27 on the highway. I would like it to reamain in that range if possible.

Thanks everyone...

CAI= not worth it , drop in K&N is good and cheaper

Pullies= very very very small gain

Timing adjuster or programmer will do more for you than the pullies , especially with your exhaust .

gears , you already have 3.27s , so 3.55s arent that much different , if you are staying all motor go with 4.10s , if you are going with a power adder , 3.73s are better

best bang for the buck mods

Headers if you have the money and patience
4.10 gears dont waste your money on 3.55's they arent much different from 3.27's
timing adjuster
aftermarket upper plenum C&L accufab etc
that should be a dam good start

it has nitto 555r's or whatever in the rear... hehe....255 40 17's i believe..not 100% though

so underdrive pulleys arent worth much for power? and i thought the 99+ gts came with 3.08:1 rear ends?

and cai are sposed to dyno at 10hp more than a drop in arent they? IDK im learning though so bear with me. What about a chip or signal adjuster for the sensors..will that help any? i want to be able to run with t/a's LS1's without destroying my MPG..is that possible?

the upper plenum you speak of...isnt it like a throttle body in design?

and no power adders ...yet...

BTW what brand of headers do you guys suggest for the most value?

Headers...BBK or Mac would be your best bet, as the the cai and gears, 3.27's are stock for our GT's, i just got 3.73's and my milage actually went up..As for keeping up with ls1's...get a blower, thats what im doing, if you wanna stay N/A and beat an ls1, get some 4.30's and about every bolton you can think of.. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, dont be afraid to ask, we all started somewhere

3.73 and your mileage went UP wow..thats cool...

ao mogs those mods will et you run with ls1 t/a's and ss's huh? about what is the net invested in those mods..cost of mods only...not installation..

I appreciate it guys...

just curious but with 3.73:1 what rpm are you turning in fifth gear at 60mph?

BTW mogs i love the cobra r splitter...where did you get that? Steeda?

5th gear is almost the exact same as it was, i shift to 5th at 40 just to keep the gas usage down. 60 in 5th will be basicly the same + maybe 1-200rpms with 3.73's and your 3.27's

not bad at all...cervini's huh? do they have a website?

and good deal on the 3.73's you just determined my first purchase :nice:

thanks so far guys...ill most likely have more questions within the next day or so...

I believe air goes through the plenum before the throttle body and you see the most gains if you buy both an aftermarket plenum and aftermarket throttle body. If I were you I'd wait to see the results of the plenum test before you buy one. Here's the thread:
