If I were you I would be VERY careful and remove and SAVE the factory muffs, preferably keeping the entire factory catback uncut. Those pipes are bitchin' and will soon be legendary. I say again TRY TO SAVE THEM UNMOLESTED AND COMPLETELY INTACT, Even if it means pulling the rearend to do it. In 10 years you will thank me.

Exhaust noise is sorta like power...you get used to both entirely too easily. I got the Magnaflows and love 'em (but the hooligan in me wants more "f-you, anarchy, loud-pipes-define-lives" good ol' fashioned rackit!). I've listened to the clips on mustang exhaust and think there is a good chance Magnaflows won't be too much louder that factory bullitts. If you're itchin' to be rowdy, I would suggest the 'packs even though they are not my style.

Comparing my set-up to 03trublugt (Matt)'s set-up. The only difference was that I have catted X and pack while he has o/r X and regular flow. As I stood there to compare, on the dyno both car sounded very similar but mine is somewhat noticably louder, but they both share the same tone. Hopes that help.

'Packs Baby!

I say MagnaPack's :nice: With a MRT o/r H-pipe... That set-up sounds killer. BTW-does anyone have a sound clip, or video of a stock Bullitt's exhaust? I have heard they sound almost exactly like the car from the movie, and I'd like to compare... :D

I am not a fan of the Magnapacks. They sound like a bad glasspack. Of the two I would choose the Magnaflows for certain. They are more of a quality sound and can get nice and loud with an X pipe with out the loss of the good quality sound. My personal preference is LongTubes, catted H pipe, O/R H pipe or Dr. Gas X pipe with Flowmasters.

What other exhaust mods do you have? If you want to keep things on the mellow side because you have other mods, you may want to consider the magnaflows.
However, from a performance standpoint, either choice is great! You'll just have to decide on which type of muffler (regular magnaflow or louder magnapack) suits your ears. You can't go wrong!

I went with the magnapacks! I have had magnaflows on a 95 with a magnaflow catted-h and it was very quiet. I have also had the magnaflow catted-x with magnapacks on a 2k auto GT and liked them just didn't like the way they sounded with the auto... Didn't care for the drone much either but they don't drone as bad in a friends 99gt 5-speed?? Not sure why but I am going to try them again. If there is too much drone I will just do some sound proofing. Thanks for the replys!

I mildly agree with this. With a limited edition car like a Bullitt, you should really try to keep nearly every stock part that comes off of the car -- this is ESPECIALLY true if you change the seats. The collectability is for its stock configuration, and not for the mods you will add. So keep all of those parts to sell with the car later on ... it will definitley increase the car's value. I believe the Bullitt's stock catback is exactly the same of a GT except the tips. So keeping the entire catback may be quite a bit of overkill considering how mundanely available the catback will be in junk yards. This is even more true considering that a catback is a pretty bulky item to leave hanging around your garage. But DEFINITELY keep those tips!
