I'm scratching my head on this one. Keep in mind I'm running carb, but my combo just isn't pulling right. I have no power down low with 4.10 gears. I have the ford E303 came Windsor Jr heads and most other engine upgrades. My question is, will the stock aod coverter(which I have in) kill my power down low that bad that I can't even chirp my tires? My car feel like it's slow then before the upgrades.

OOPs... you made a comon mistake... pressure to have the BIG stuff instead of good stuff!! The heads will have big ports and valves, which will slow the velocity of the air, the smaller cam is good, but cant get the air moving fast enough to make low end power, the 4.10 are killer and probably after 3500 the car zooms!! To FIX the problem... two ways! YES on the convertor!! you need some low end slip to allow the engine to build power faster, 2200 should put you there.. the other is to advance the cam intake center line to allow the engine to build low end faster and lower the torque to a useable lower rpm!! We have installed the E cam as far as 104* ( cut on 110* , that is 6* advanced) for stock AOD's and the car gained back some low end!! the heads will need air velocity ( speed) to build power. SOoo... looks like either way your going BACK into the car... cam advance or Convertor... Cool?? Hope this helped.

Just me........................

you need a 3k stall converter, and then you'll blow the tires off the rims

Not real impressed with the dart heads. What thumper said ditto'd 100 times. My twin turbo 351 capri ran better with '66 289 heads with the chambers ported vs a set of box stock windsor sr's. They are turds.

These are the small darts that everyone is talking about right? I have the seniors on my 351 and I think they are a good head for the $$$. I could have paid more to get more. Mine are out of the box stock.

I guess the rest of my combo matches the head fairly well.

i have the exact same setup but efi, and im going through the same problem.... when i bought the car, the timing was at like 18 degrees along with my fuel pressure at like 16lbs.... suprised i didnt blow a hole in a piston.... Do you have any pics of your heads without the valve covers??? cause i didnt think i had dart heads, but when i pulled the covers, they say windsor jr.'s.... any other way to confirm there darts??

Hey thumper, what fuel pressure are you running on your 750? I have a 650 DP, about what pressure should I run?

Walt..6 to 7 PSI!! Keep the needle and seat working!! high rpm 7500+ I will jack it up to 9 psi!! but at street drives and anything less than pedal to the floor 7 psi is max!! Of course you have 3/8 to 1/2 inch fuel line???... right??

Hey guys... the lack of low end is.... cylindar pressure!! low compression, BIG heads and Cams... all kill the cylindar pressure!! Get the compression back!! Bandaide approach is to dial the cam in and try to make pressure they degreeing the cam!! Dont want gears....? dont want RPM.....?? install the camshaft with the intake center line in at as tight as 102 or as lazy as 106* !!!! Close the intake valve sooner and build compression and low end!!! "You'll lose top end!!"" WTF!!! if your out front by 3 cars and you lose 5 HP at 6800 rpm..... who cares!! you won and the Street maners are rocking!! The E cam is killer with 104* - 106* installed!! the B @ 104- 105* rocks... TFS1.. bump that sucker in at 106* ( 6* advanced) and smoke the tires till next week!!! Power isnt the top end... and huge heads..... Power is out of the hole and the right combo!! Cool??

you know, of course... heads AREN'T the answer... it IS Camshaft!!!!!

But hey.. Its just me...............................

Hey I know that my compression is low these heads have I think 60or 64cc chambers. I had wanted to supercharged it so I know lower compression is good for the engine. Cash isn't looking good for that right now so what duration is good for that head or better yet what off the shelf cam?

New Guy

I know this is an old thread but I noticed a few things that just didn't seem quite right. The Windsor Jr heads are small chamber (58cc), small port heads. It's not a flow velocity problem. However, the stock converter is killing the bottom end along with the timing. Minimum 2800 stall and base timing on this cam needs to be around 14* at idle with the cam installed straight up.
