What do they run???

Alright guys,

This isn't one of those fast and the furious made up stories, but i saw a skyline yesterday when i went out for a cruise. (Nice lookin car by the way). So he pulls into a gas station on the main drag, and i get to talking to him. turns out it's an R32, whatever that means, w/awd and either single or twin turbo. He said it came factory that way. Well, i'm gettin off the topic, but he says he goes down the local track, and wants to gimme a run,and if i'm game for a lil money. what do u think? he has full exhaust, bov, and a few other lil bolt ons from what he told me. no times. I got a 94gt, 5spd, bunch of bolt-ons, 3.73's, and drs. I'm lookin at a 340hp. longblock from central coast mustang, and was thinkin bout toppin it off w/a lil juice, like a 125 shot. what do u think, do i have a shot, or will i get :owned: ? just want some opinions, bout the car, and the motor set-up. thanks for all ur help

Don't run the guy. Skylines are very fast and easily made much faster. R32 refers to the version of the car...kinda like the corvettes are C3's, C4's and C5's. I think they are up to R34's now but not quite sure. Those are actually quite expensive cars that are not brought to the states by Nissan. I don't keep up on them very much but I'm certain that it doesn't take that much to make them a mid 11 sec car.

Use caution when gamling against a Skyline!!!

Skyline's are no joke....the R32 was produced between 89-93....they were up to the R34 until Nissan stopped production of the GTR in i believe 2002....the fastest stock Skyline in the 1/4 ever recorded was 12.6 so dont be to confident even with H/C/I but the average Skyline will run low 13's....the 32's are impressive cars but the 33 and 34 are where its at....the 34 is a technological marvel....the "ALTESSA" AWD system is amazing....it transfers up to 90% of power to the rear wheels based on conditions and how your driving...basically its a RWD car but its AWD when you need it to be....the 34 also has a 4 wheel steering system that adjusts the amount the rear wheels are turned every like 100th of a second based on how much your turning the wheel, and how much gas ur giving it...oh and its got a sick as hell "g-meter" built into the dash...that gives digital readouts of boost pressure, intake temp, coolant temp, all sorts of other crap too...also has graphs that measure acceleration, braking and lateral g's...all of this in real time....we have a guy in my area with a limited "Lemans edition" R33 GTR.....

....technically by the way we DO get the skyline here in the states...its the Infinity G35....

theyre up to r35 if you count the infinit g35 as a skyline... but anyway, those cars are fast... period. theres a R32 around here with HKS cams, ball bearing turbo, bov, exhaust, utec chip all the 'simple bolt ons' and the guy seriously runs low 11's all day. ive only seen it twice, and only once at the track, and the guy was too much of a a$$hole to talk to me about the car so he could have more done. you should just let him run and see what he gets before throwin money down on a race, have fun!

My parents just recenly purcased a G35. Its a 6 speed sport coupe, 1 of only 6 sold in KC with the particular color/interior combo and 1 out of 100 in the US. Very nice looking car, but I haven't driven it yet, maybe I will get to on my summer break. Unfortunately though, G35 do not have a turbo version like the skylines, and after looking at the engine bay, there doesn't even seem to be much room for one at that.

While the R33 and R34 are newer, most enthusiast still prefer the R32 which is more of a drivers car. R34's have a little stiffer chassis and electronic slip differential, and they are much heavier. Not that much difference between the three.

50% is the most it will transfer when the rear tires start to lose traction.

the 34 also has a 4 wheel steering system

HICAS is also present in R32 and R33 GT-R's.

The G35 coupe is my FAVORITE car avaliable on the market today. I might seriously concider buying one in the near future, especially if they offer the AWD in the coupe version. Anyone know if that is in the works???

The G-35 sedan has the AWD I heard though that the G-35 coupe will be getting the AWD soon. I would not race him for money. I imagine that when you race for money people sometimes may forget about a few "small" mods that where done. Tell him you will race for fun, when you get that setup.

I've raced a G35 sports coupe. They are fast cars. If I would have launched better I think I could have taken him because I didn't really launch my car. My front bumper was on his taillight all the way up to around 95 mph and than I started pulling closer and closer and we shut it down.
