5.0 COBRA OWNERS and ANYONE else that knows their S***

I really need to know a few things about my Cobra motor. I STILL can't find anywhere, info on what size the MAF is or the TB. And how much I can gain from changing them, but how can I upgrade, when I don't know what I have?

And second. I've been hearing that the Cobra computer makes up for the 24# injectors. Is this true? Is the stock Cobra MAF calibrated for 19# injectors?

LINKS will help a lot. I want to know every little detail about my Cobra motor and computer.

Thanks

the mass air meter should be 70mm...throttle body I think is either 60 or 65, but maybe Im wrong on that...I know they have better cams, gt-40 heads, 1.7 rockers...etc etc...but i know the mass air is 70...if ur gonna upgrade go to a 76 or 75 and get 24lbsrs

I know for a fact that the cobra motor came with a 70mm mass air meter, 24lb injectors, and a separate cobra computer. If you look at the injector tips, they should be blue. Brothers Performance sells a package deal for it. http://www.brothersperformance.com/shop/mustang/fmm9000c52.html

As for the throttle body, I think it is a 65mm, but not positive. I am pretty sure it was bigger than stock, and since stock is 58mm I believe, I don't think they would make it a 60mm. I have heard from others though that it is 65mm.

Things that I know are different from the normal 5.0 HO:

Gt40 cast iron cylinder heads
Cobra upper and lower intake manifold
Different ground cam I believe
1.7 roller rockers
24 lb injectors
70mm mass air
cobra computer
bigger throttle body

That's all I know of, there may be more.

Hope this helps you out.

edit: Darn, you guys beat me to it already

The '93 had a 65mm throttle body and a 70mm MAF. The MAF is calibrated for 19lb injectors because they pulled it off of the Ford Motorsports shelf. The computer is calibrated differently to use the 24lb injectors. I guess a new calibration in the computer is cheaper than a 24lb MAF.

If you search for the tweecer forum, I'm sure that you can find lots of information about the differences between the Cobra calibration and GT. Evidently lots of people start off with the cobra calibration when they start tweecing their A9L (or other) GT computer.

Exactly....

I told you a few weeks ago, if you have a fax number or shoot me an address I'll get you all the specs on everything in the motor for the 93 Cobra.

Do you have a real Cobra motor? Or just a stock 5.0 HO with Cobra parts thrown on it??

Let's see

Cobra Intake
65MM TB
70mm MAF
GT-40 heads
Black stamped valve covers (all other fox mustangs get gray)
1.7 roller rockers
24# injectors
unique but VERY crappy computer (x3M i beleive is the code)
camshaft robbed from 91-93 cougar/thunderbird
Hyper Pistons
Black oil pan
Heater pipe missing nipple for EGR coolant hose
Different Water pump and alt pulley (WP is smaller, alt appear same size. Both should have F3Z- numbers on them.)
Upgraded T-5 rated for 330 ft-lbs of Torque

I miss anything?

It IS a Cobra motor, and wring harness with computer. I know pretty much everything , but the size of MAF and TB. Which now I know. Thanks guys. The rockers are 1.7, but not roller. I think thats what billetunderwear meant when he was asking "1.7 roller rockers?"

How much could I gain with a 70mm TB?

No he meant that that's what i forgot to put on my list of Cobra parts.

Cobra 1.7 rockers are roller rockers.
