engine mounts V8 vrs V6

This may seem like a backwards swap, but its what I'm doing...

I have a 78 T-top that was originally a 302/C4 and I' going to drop a 2.8/Rad into it.

I have the frame mounts from the 302 still in it, and I need to know if they are the same (or will work for) my 2.8 swap. I think I have a set of engine mount plates and the rubber mounts for the V6, but since I don't have access to a hoist at the moment, I can't just drop it into the engine compartment to check.

(Heck, if they ARE different, I'll swap my V8 frame mounts straight across for a set of V6 mounts....) <--[mods, I'll do a separate post in the parts forum if needed, but since I don't know if they are different yet...]

You'll need a D5ZZ 6028A bracket for the right. It was used on all 2.3 and 2.8 from '75-on, and the 302 in '75 only ('76-78 use the D6ZZ version).

You'll need a D4ZZ 6029A for the left. All 2.3 and 2.8, all years.

The insulator (motor mount) is a '75 up piece (OE ref D5ZZ 6038F). Same on both sides.

Jon,

I did the reverse swap on my daughter's '78 T-top. I kept the passenger side frame mount (worked fine with the 302) but swapped the driver's side. PM me your address in Burnaby and I'll send you the 2.8 one. Should only take a week or so by mail and no customs :) Afraid I don't have any of the other V6 parts left (didn't come with an engine and I gave the RAD away last fall)

You have mail! I actually already have a V6 Rad (got it for 20 minutes of stripping engines for scrap metal)

And "project more hp with less displacement" gets one small step closer to striking fear into the heartbeat of America!!!

I've often wondered what the difference is in the "V8" bracket for '76-78 and the 2.3/2.8/'75 302 bracket.

Something was redesigned in '76, because I know that the use of the D7ZZ 6038 A/B mounts is "supposed" to require the use of different 6028/9 frame brackets, according to several printed sources.
