I know the 2003 and 2004 are superchangered but are the 99,01's?

On Fords SVT site it shows only a different Compression between the models.

So any Info will help.

I am in the Market for a new Mustang.

supercharging is the main thing, 6 speed tranny? IRS? i put question marks there because i dont really know but speculate since those are the things that differ it from a GT...i think....lol...how much help am I huh?

99/01:

4.6L DOHC 4V Naturally Aspirated V8
320HP@6000/317ft.-lbs@4750
T45 5-speed manual trans.
Independant rear suspension (IRS)

03/04:

4.6L DOHC 4V Supercharged V8
390HP/390ft.-lbs.
Eaton M112 Supercharger w/ intercooler
T56 6-speed manual trans.
stronger IRS system

There are quite a bit more differences, but those are the main performance differences.

Another:

99/01 = aluminum heads, aluminum block
03/04 = aluminum heads, iron block

I believe that in theory that the 99/01 Cobras probably will make for a better handling car with the proper suspension since its not quite as nose heavy and weighs about 200 lbs less. However, for the best "drive off the lot" package, you can't beat the 03/04. The 99/01 Cobras are a blast to drive, but who can argue with 400 hp horsepower with factory warranty.

Eaton blower, forged internals, T56 tranny, heavier clutch, beefed up rear end, but I am not sure how much stronger it is than the '01, bigger tires and rims, better seats, although the '01 seats are nice. Revised hood, front facia and rear bumper and spoiler plus a flush rocker panel.

If you want to build something to race around a road course, the '03 is not as good of a choice as the '99/'01. Almost 200# over the front end and a higher center of gravity with the Eaton/intercooler on top.

If you want a cruiser that can get out and run, go with the '03. To me, it is a great long distance road car. It is way faster all of the way across the board. You can go to the strip and run in the 12's right from the factory.

I agree; and they respond to mods extremely well.

I test drove them both.....And I just can't do it.

The payments are not worth it. I sold my 89 Vert But I can't sell my 25th Anniversary Hatch....It's got perfect paint and a perfect engine....

The performance gain by buying a cobra or a mach 1 is just not worth the $350 a month and raise in insurance.

I will put another Grand into my hatch and I will be more than happy....No payments.

I Might look at the New 05's though......I love the look of those.
