Saving gas tips?

It seems that I have to re-fill my gas tank every 50 miles (from half tank) and I only put in $10 worth so it only goes to about half tank. Any tips on how to save gas?

Drive slow.. and stay at around 60-65 on free way.

accelerate slow also.. let the rpm climb up.. don't force it.

better yet.. get a beater

look in your owners manual, it should give you shift points that save the most gas, i.e. they are at like 2300 and XX mph or something.

they only show you at which mph to shift.. not rpm I don't think..

with 4.10 install.. it's hard to guess..

i just check the button under Misc Options.

easiest way to save gas man is not to drive it hard. Dont accelerate hard. And stay at a slower speed on the highway.

ACTUALLY, higher speed doesn't always constitute less gas mileage. For example, my car has a MPG guage. I get better MPG doing 70 or 80 than I do going 45 or 65. You can see the difference.

I just came back from my spring break vacation. Staying 65 on Cruise control netted me 350miles plus on a tank of gas. Not too bad for a thirsty V8.

Buy a beater to drive around in. Mine is 89 Cavalier with 180000 Miles and I still get about 22 MPG

Better yet, get a 4 banger that will net you near 30+ miles per gallon..

I heard keeping all your filters clean will help too (air, fuel)

Everyone says don't get on it as much, but be realistic...no one can help it.

Usually does a light come on notifying you when you're low on gas that allows you to go at least 10 more miles before it runs completely out? That way you only fill up the tank when you really need too.

And I guess I burn my own gas because I change to 2nd gear before redline at around 6000 RPM lol, also, does it save more while driving in a low gear or high gear? for example if you're in 4th gear at 3500 RPM will that be better than being in 5th gear at 2000?
