Question on 01Cobra Stock Aluminum Block

How much power can the stock Block on a 01Cobra handle? Also I heard that the 96-98 Cobra aluminum block is much stronger then the 01 Block and if thats the case could I use it for my 01 Cobra. Where can I buy one for a good price.

Good question. I have heard that the 6 bolt main in the 01' can handle upwards of 500 HP....has anyone heard otherwise??

99 and 01 blocks are the same. Mine is holding up fine to the power. See sig.

When you say block, are you talking about the ACTUAL block, or are you talking about the stock pistons/rods? With stock pistons and rods, 500rwhp is pushing it. Even if you have an awesome tune, the connecting rods werent meant for that power. That vid of the 99 cobra racing the z06 where he blew his rods is proof of that.

I can never find that sean hyland book when I need it. The 96-98 block can handle a decent bit more power but I do not remember the numbers.

The main difference I know of between the blocks is the size of the hole for the knock sensor. The '01 hole is 5/16" and the 96-98 is 3/8".
