there is a debate going on about how this guy driving his unmoded SS beat an '03 cobra.

I think he is sorely mistaken.

here is an excerpt from the conversation.

Now with the top up and sealed and the ASR off, we again punched from 30. We were neck and neck, and when I shifted into 2nd, I pulled on him! Were were all excited and yelling as I put an entire length on him. I got up to 105mph and was about to shift into 4th, but I missed the shift! He zoom's past me, but we knew that I had won that race.

He can't drive, plain and simple. That's the only realistic way you'd beat an '03 cobra..

Well, he says himself that he doesn't know much about stangs, so it could have been anything really. Like others said, possibly a 99 or 01. If he did race an 03, then that must have been the very first time the 03 driver was driving a stick shift cause he SUCKED at teh driving

I agree. A stock 03 Cobra will beat a stock SS unless the Cobra driver is incompetent.

It would take the right LS1 to do it and a good driver. I had a 99 Z28 A4 that trapped 101mph for its best trap. The stock 01 WS6 M6 I have trapped 109.46 on the one run I got at opening night at the track. Some are slow and some are quick.

Grow up

SS vs SC Cobra? Who gives a f&*$? It's the age-old story of every young gun wanting to make a name for himself by taking down a shootist. Real drivers/tuners don't cruise the streets in search of pissing contests to impress their "gf", or worse bragging about things they've never done (e.g., "I pulled on a Pagani Zonda C12S outside Morgantown in my `98 PoS and before turning into my fitness center [BTW, I can bench press 550 lbs.] to pick up my gf, I had to be doing over 150 mph; and dude that was in THIRD gear!") over the internet. The sanctioned track (drag strip or road course) and a clock separates pretenders from the true enthusiasts. If those SS punks (or you for that matter) are really that "baaaaad," then why aren't they earning some serious coin by racing professionally. Keep you day jobs kiddies or meet me for the next TRF event.

...

I'm sure some kid will be posting all about how a Honda Prelude beat me at etown last weekend. A HOnda Prelude with a turbo running 467 to the wheels and beat me with a 12.1 to my 12.2...I was trying to practice running for brackets (which has to be 12.0 or slower) until I noticed him pulling on me...then I tried to beat him but it was too late...i had already short shifted 1st and 2nd...

At the strip or on the street there is no way to claim a car is this or that unless you know the situation...

maybe the guy drank a bottle of nyquil?? or the guy in the SS is one of those" i have never lost and neveer will no matter what guys, and makes crap up.. Damn chevys
