No sound!!! WTF? HELP!!!!

Ok, I've got a 97 6 banger that came with an AM/FM tape player. The tape player finally bit the dust so I went to Wal Mart, and picked up a Sony CD player to replace it, and a connector for my car to make it fit. So I hooked the thing up up, it's getting power, but NOTHING is coming out of the speakers. No static, or nothing. There was an old speaker in my basement from an 86 Escort, and I touched the wires coming out of it to the ones in the back of the new CD player, and it played so I don't think it's the CD player.

As far as I can tell everything is hooked up correctly, but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Any help, or advice you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

are your speakers making a pop noize when you turn on the car?

check your antena wire, make sure its hooked up right.

No, the speakers aren't making any sounds. Nothing at all. It's like they'er just dead.

Well, when I had the speaker from the Escort hooked up to it the sound from the radio, and CD was playing on the speaker so I assume that the antenna wire is hooked up alright.

Ok, it's working now......finally. I guess this can be closed now, or what not.

Make sure you hooked the blue/w white stripe wires together on the harnesses, if you have a factory amped system, that wire turns on the amp.
