This is not 2.3 specific. Actually my F-150 is acting up.

It is a 302 w/ AOD.

Last week it started to stall and then be able to restart after it cooled down. Figured it was the TFI and when I got a chance I would change it or when it completed died. Then it started acting up on Friday. It would shudder and lose power only to start running normal again after a bit. Then on Sat. it really got bad and my cousin had to tow me home. I changed the TFI module and it started up, but had what felt like a miss. So I figure what the hell and changed the plugs, wires and coil as well. Still has this horrible shudder to it. When it is in park it isn't too bad. Throw it in any gear and it begins to buck and shudder and has minimal power. Try to accelerate and forget about it.

Long story short I get back from the hardware strore with my father and I take a look underneath and one of the cats is glowing orange.

Now is it just a clogged cat or a real bad miss spitting gas into my cat?

Also on thursday I drove through numerous deep puddles. Could that have killed my cats?

Just don't want to go cut up my exhaust if it isn't needed. Going to disconnect the pipes from the manifold and see how it runs, but ran out of time tonight.

So what do you guys think?

you have yourself a bad conveter my friend. My 91 Bronco acted the same way 2 months ago I also did what you did. The very first thing I thought it was the TFI module, replaced my old glowing cat with a new one problem solved.
