SHHHH, just don't tell her. I tried the timing trick, but was afraid to screw it up. Exactly which screw do you loosen to turn th distcap. Is it the two tiny screws on the inside middle, or the screws along the outer edge inside the lower cap?

There is 1 screw at the base of the distributor (where it goes into the block( that you need to loosen. It uses a 1/2 wrench. You will need a timing light.

The bolt to loosen is at the base of the distributor, where it bolts to the intake. Scrib or mak a mark to note where it is NOW, in case you have a problem and have to get back to square one.

Not exactly. The bolt is in fact at the distributor base but the bolt that holds it in place goes into the BLOCK as opposed to the itake. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just don't want to steer this guy wrong. :D

You can take the silencer off the air filter and go get a good K&N filter if you decide not to do the CAI. Gears are the best to wake up a car. The next thing I would do is underdrive pullies. When you are talking about exhaust, that is not an inexpensive mod. You can tie up $600 -700 easy and quick. Don't forget to only run super when you advance your timing up like that. Oh and welcome to the boards.

P.S. What part of LA are you from?

Well thanks guys, but I got my mechanic neighbor to show me how to use his timing light, I got it set to 14 degrees like most people here, but it pings with regular gas. I'll leave it there until I can run a tank of 93 octane then see if it still pings. I'm thinking next will be exhaust and gears, and new plugs. I want an exhaust that you can tell is a V8, this stock "quiet" exhaust gotta go. I have a ravin z55 on my F150 si/do and I would like that sound on the stang. I'm sure my neighbor would install the gears for me if I give him a case or two. The plugs I think I will change as soon as I have time, probably this weekend. Should I get new plug wires or are the stock wires good enough.

well gotta go, and 5.0 from 95 I'm from Lafayette, but currently in Pensacola FL, (flight school) soon to be a winged USMC Aviator and life taker!
