My new Cobra just had a blow out with 2500 miles on the tire. It was the rear tire with lots of tread and the thing split completely in half with part of tire on each side of the rim. We dug through the tire looking for a nail or screw and found nothing. I took it to Fritz Ford in Riverside CA, where I bought the car and they said it looked like a tire defect but their manager would have to look at it and make the decision. He just called me back saying that there is a self tapping screw in the tread. I had at least 6 people look at that tire and couldn’t find the screw.

Any Advice?

Also I need a new tire "275/45/ZR17" anyone know of a good price on a tire?

Thanks,

Dan

if you are positive that there was no screw in there then i would honestly take the guy to court. he may be put a screw in there just so he wouldnt have to pay for it. is the rim damaged?? i would take him to court with all your witnesses that can say there was no screw in there. also go look at the screw that was supposedly in there. see if the screw is all scratched up. if it is then it may have been in there and u just didnt see it. or if the screw looks like new id say that a-hole put it in there. either way good luck

Even if there was a screw in the tire, that's no excuse for it flying apart.
Yeah, what he said. Unless it went flat and then you were riding on it, but I think you'd notice. If everybody whoever got a nail or a screw in their tire had a blowout, there'd be a hell of a lot of blowouts/accidents.
