Heres the deal, I just took my 96 Cobra out of winter storage today and I got a problem. The car was stock when I put it in storage except for flowmasters. Engine wise I added BBK underdrive pullies, bbk cold air, BBK 65mm throttle body, Venom 400 module, Pro-m 87mm air meter, and a new optima yellow top battery during the winter. I took it out today and it starts fine but when I go to accelerate from a constant speed in any gear, the engine just revs up for a about 2 seconds, then catches when I let off. WTF!?!?! Am I experienceing clutch slip?? I do smell a buning odor-like when you burn your clutch - whenever I do it. I don't know why I would because it was fine when I stored it. Please help me anybody!Ohh by the way, I turned the Venom 400 module off and tried it and it still does it so its not the Venom. :(

Maybe I don't understand the problem. I read, "When I step on the gas nothing happens for 2 seconds then I start moving. And I smell the burnt smell of clutch facing".

So it Could be your clutch slipping. Or maybe your brake calipers are stuck and holding the brakes on, which could happen after a long storage. Or maybe both. Smoking brake pads smell the same as clutch. Take it for a drive and then get out and feel your wheels. If they're warm or hot to the touch it's the brakes.

What I meant was that when I am going a constant speed in any gear, I hit the gas, the engine revs up like I am accelerating - but I don't go any faster(like I am in nuetral) and when I let off the gas, I can feel the car "kick in" in a jerk forward way - like the cluch catches then.

Clutch is done. Time to get a Spec!!

Well, its a damn good thing it happened now because I was having my BBK longtubes installed later this month and that would have meant that I would have had to take the passenger side header off to pull the tranny. I guess it give me a reason to buy a better clutch - going with Ford Racing's King Cobra - I get it at a good price from my buddy over at Summit! :)
