For reference, I used to be good at making these decisions, but once college hit, along with other expenses my Mustang knowledge fell through the basement... :nonono:

With that said, my current setup is a MAC ProChamber w/a MAC Cat-Back ending in their 'WONDERFUL' chrome 3.5" tips. I need a change. While I love the look of the tips, the sweet sound this setup produces, and the SOTP performance I'm pretty sure it gave me; I am entirely sick and tired of the fit & finish of this system.

I just installed 'replacement' tips from MAC after sending them pics of the rusted POS tips that had been on my car for about 3 years. I am looking for a system that performs well, sounds awesome, but more importantly fits to 99.99% accuracy (including no hassle lining up of the tips with the cut-outs in the rear bumper on my back installing in my back yard none-the-less), and a finish that will do nothing but improve over time!

I currently prefer the sound of an H, but I'm not opposed to going to an X either. SS would probably be the way to go as well. So given that information, recommendations anyone? Which produces more HP? TQ? I know exhaust choices are as varied as people's imaginations, but some helpful 'pointers' would be most appreciated.

NE Pennsylvania can be quite harsh on cars, so something that will withstand the harsh winters up here is preferable. Also, does anyone know if LT headers are street legal in PA?

Thanks!! :flag:

I second SLP

I don't second SLP, their tips are awesome. But their catback sounds like a rock tumbler, it's just annoying and loud, no tone to it.

Romeo, I know EXACTLY what you're going through with the Mac stuff. I love the performance, sound etc! BUT the quality as far as rusting is PATHETIC. about 1 year ago they sent me a WHOLE new catback with new 3.5 tips due to rusting. But let me tell you, the 3.5 tips are VERY EASY to clean up, just use a soft wire brush and turtle wax chrome finish and rust remover and they will look like new, my Mac LT's are rusted like crazy too, but i cleaned them up and painted them not too long ago. ALSO if you want the insides of the tips to look nice, spray paint it with dupli color high eat coating(silver) withstands 1200* of heat.

but if you're gonna replace your system, I would say magnaflow, if you go with SLP, make SURE you hear it first, my buddy has a shop who sells them, put them on his car and it sounded like crap, just my 2 cents.

Well for durability, you definately want stainless. Go Magnaflow, or Bassani. Magnaflow is cheaper and supposedly gives more hp. I give Magnaflow two big thumbs up  , and SLP :puke:

SLP is too obnoxious sounding, but if you like super loud, then I guess they are ok.

Do people really think SLP is obnoxious because it is or just because SLP use to be in GM stuff?

When I ran into another stang that had magnapacks - he said that my SLP sounded a lot better than his. I guess it all depends what your taste is.

Anyways, good luck with whatever you choose..
