Installed my Accufab TB / Plenum today

I am really glad I bought this these pieces. Not only do they look great, but like many others I also felt a little extra kick, expecially from 3000 - 5500 range. I felt nothing really from my Steeda pullies, but I can honestly say there's a few more horses pulling my stang after these mods. It's nothing like the 4.10s, but it was notceable. Of course, the true test is when I hit the track. Should be interesting though because I've yet to hit 100 mph. If I hit 100.5-101, then I'll know the TB/Plenum is the for-real-deal.

I know the peak hp/tq increase on this mod is supposed to be in the neighborhood of 10 rwhp/rwtq, but there must be a few areas under/over the peaks that have greater gains than these amounts. That's the only way it would explain me actually "feeling" some power.

My intake note changed a tad as well. Little more aggressive. No whistliing either!!! :nice:

The hardest part of the install was removing the IAC and PCV rubber hoses! Those things were just baked on! Also, I can't possibly imagine using the stock air intake and trying to attach it to a 75mm TB. It was very difficult to attach it to my 70mm. And I even heated it up a little to make it more flexible! Maybe C & L knows this and just wants to make more people buy their intake pipe!

Working in the engine bay today reminded me to never-ever try installing headers on my car unless I have a lift. My sore back & knicked up hands actually reminded me of this!!! :rlaugh:

Anyway, I'm 90% sold so far on this mod. We'll see for sure in a month or so when the tracks re-open here in the Buckeye State.

00Blackbeauty - see this thread I started earlier this week:

I didn't even bother to check the TPS with a voltmeter like I planned. I just swapped the TPS and secured the new screws supplied by Accufab. No problems whatsoever - idles the same as before. No, I did not reset my computer. Doubt it makes any difference. If it does, well, it will "learn" everything on it's own over the next few hundred mile! :D

I just posted my view of this mod on stangnet. To summarize, I'm 90% sure this is a good mod (track mph will tell this spring if it's 100%) and I'm 100% certain I "feel" a little kick from this combo.

I am still waiting to install one of the new plenums and TBs. I have pulleys, gears, TA and have trapped at 102. Practice and you will break 100. Remember though, suspension will also help. You can run 96-97 mph and pull mid 13 sec 1/4s.
I think the TA helped the most so far as for power.

Practice, practice , practice.

Went to the track this past Friday. In 24 previous 1/4 mi passes, I never hit 100 mph - not even once, although last time out in 2003 I did hit 99.98. I made 3 passes this past Friday with the following new modifications:

Nitto DRs
Accufab Elbow
Accufab 70mm TB
Raptor Shift Light

Best ET before at this track - 14.187
Best ET after at this track - 13.824

Best MPH before at this track - 99.98
Best MPH after at this track - 101.4

In three runs, I hit 100.0, 101.4, and 99.5. No doubt these 4 mods helped me tremendously. If I had to be honest with myself, the Nitto DRs were by far the main reason for the lowered ETs, but I don't know if they affect mph. And I wasn't even getting good 60' times with the Nittos (I kept them at 20 psi - doh!) Best 60' was 2.08 (the best run of the night too.) The nittos did help a ton on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I can finally return to powershifting. On street tires with 4.10s at this particular track, it's been "sideways city" without the DRs.

Just wanted to update my old post. At crappy Marion County International Raceway track, I think my car has a 13.7 in it somewhere once I can figure out the best way to launch these DRs. Maybe a little better if I hit National Trails. We'll see. . .

congrats BMAN! I feel your 'pain' when you mentioned the knicked hands....i opened that brace as far as it would go and applied a little soapy water to the inlet pipe...it slipped right on....i haven't been to the track at all, but just 'gettin' it on the street, i can definetly tell a difference with my mods...good luck!

What is the differences in the install procedure between the Accufab elbow and the Accufab plenum?

The plenum is the same thing as the elbow. I guess I refer to it as an "elbow" because it really doesn't look/act like a a true plenum (at least as I've had a plenum pictured in my mind.) They are the same - most people call it a plenum.

Not slipping on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts pays big dividends in ET. No doubt those tires helped a great deal, but I'd also give yourself some credit, you probably are simply getting better at driving as well. Nice improvement!

Is there need to change out Mass Air Flow Assembly with the 70mm?

Your throttle response will be a lot better with a MAF though. IMO, four best mods are: C&L=pleneum, MAF, inlet tube, 70mmTB(N/A), 75mmTB(Plan to supercharge). The accufab pleneum is the best though.

Are you kidding me
Maybe the four best mods for wasting your money. Try x/h pipe, t/a, gears and dr's :nice:
