well my hood has always sat up kinda higher in the back and it matched lines in the front. Well i think my mom or dad tried to fix it one day because they told me it wouldnt close. I got it shut and i have been having problems with it ever since. I know it is just that the latch needs some oil. Well, someone stopped by to look at the car today and i showed them the engine and everything. I didn't want to slam the hodd shut in front of the guy so i just let it down and figured i would close it later. Well i was in a rush to go out and never shut it properly. So i was starting to go down my road and the hood started shaking and moving a little. So i went to pull over and shut it and wham! The hood came flying up and was all out of whack. Some major damage was done. Besides all the paint chips, the corners of the hood where it meets the cowl are bent upward and bare metal. Now the hood is stuck shut and im afraid to open it. This sucks so bad. And this is after i spent all day cleaning and detailing

Sorry that happened to you, its happened to a bunch of stangers. My friend steve has an original 1966 shelby 350 r hood because of that! Well he had one I think he was fixing it for a customer.

yeah well i am not shelling otu cash for a new hood so i think after work sat night i will take it off and band down the corners and see what i can do about paint...i will readjust it maybe the lines will even fit after i do that. i think i have a tech article about matching lines. I think it was hot rod mag i will have to find it.

my Steeda hood flew open on my 2000 one day while I was driving 70 mph in Houston traffic. Thanks God my insurance covered it $3,000 total later. I paid $250 to get it fixed ! I have a steel safety cable to hold it down now. I really need hood pins for it though.

Ok so i took thehodd off and banged out the bracket because it was all twisted. I got it back on and realigned it. Better than before, except for the paint. Oh yeah and i was out in the garage looking for grips and i found a brand new set of hood pins i never got around to putting on.

 Lost a hood latch on a pickup once. Driving it back from the friggin paint shop :nonono: It flew up, bent over backwards, destroyed the hood, cracked the glass, dented the top where the glass meets the roof. So now Im swervin everywhere with my little noggin out the window trying to see :rlaugh: Got it stopped ok , but , lots of damage. Fortunately your new hood (if its too damaged )shouldnt be too hard to find.
