97-98 Cobras

I've been looking into prices on low mileage, well kept 97-98 Cobras, so I went to autotrader.com the other day. A whole bunch of them, mostly '98s, had new engines. The vehicle descriptions on a lot of them said it was due to a factory defect. Can someone please shed some light on this for me as to whether or not this is a legit concern when considering buying one of these cars? Why was there a defect and what was it? If I run across one that has the original motor still, is it wise to expect it to need a new motor? Thank you for any help.

I am not aware of any factory defects on the 98 cobras. 96 had problems, and so did 99 that required a recall, but as far as I know there was no major problem with the 98 cobra.

No problems with the engines, just Cobras that have been beaten or abused! Why do you think they're selling their "new engine" cars?

I wouldn't buy a limited production SVT vehicle and not have the original engine?
