What kind of Gas will you put in your new 05 GT?????

I use regular because it's cheap and that's what the manual says to. However, from what I read, the differences between regular and supreme/super/premium/whatever are very very minor. Mostly super helps you start the car better when the engines cold. I could be completely off though, I'm a car noob.

Use what ever the owners manual says.

The LS1, LS6, LS2, supercharged 4.6L, and DOHC 4.6L are all tuned for 91 octane

The Hemi V8 is tuned to run on 89 octane

The new 3 valve 4.6L in the 2005 Mustang GT is setup to run on 87octane gasoline. Running anything more than that is a waste of money. It is kind of like taking too many vitamins, your can body only use so much vitamin C, any extra you give it will just get pisssed out. Same goes for Octane, the extra gets unused and can actually decrease gas milage.

Yup. Using a 91+ when the car does not require it is like wasting a cruise missile to kill Osama Bin Laden when you have an opportunity to shoot him in the head with a 9mm.

I'd rather use the cruise missile. That way there is no body to show for being a martyr. We can just say he's still missing.

interesting, i read an article about which gas is better if better any way, in car and driver magazine. They tested i beleive BMW's, mercedes, and i think a volvo with different gas regular, plus, and premium. turns out that with cheap gas u lose horsepower and torque. They put them on the dyno and that was the result. i guess it goes back to that old saying "u get what u pay for".

Regular for me too...I with the majority in saying higher octane in cars that don't require it is a waste of money. Premium in Canada is on average $.07-$.08 a litre more that equates into almost $.40 more per gallon. On a fill up that is like $8 more, I'd rather spend it at a movie or something.

The guy above quoting Car and Driver is just plain wrong. I remember that article. The cars he's talking about REQUIRE premium and when they didn't use premium they lost alittle HP. With modern knock sensors you don't get detonation, the computers compensate and you loose a small bit of power. They're conclusion was... if the car is tuned to run on regular, there's no need to use super. Waste of money. And modern cars that require premium - if you use regular in a bind, you're not going to do anything other than loose a few HP.

Now my 95 supercharged GT with no knock sensors - if I don't use super I could get serious enough detonation to destroy my hyper pistons!

All my friends put super in their v8's so im probably gonna put super in mine..

but the 05 gt manual will probably say Regular...

what will you put and why?

as long as the engine dosent call for a higher octane you will be wasting money running anything other than regular (82 octane). If you are running heavy mods which would increase compression or have a higher mileage v8 which has become prone to pinging due to carbon buildup or just poor design then 89 or 93 octane would be advisable. The octane ratings measure a gasolines ability to resist 'engine knock' which is a pinging or detonation that results from premature ignition of the compressed fuel-air mixture in one or more cylinders. So as long as you have no pinging you have no need for anything other than regular.

ONLY HIGH OCTANE

Hi to all,

My name is Ardijan and I am from Macedonia, Skopje (Europe). I intend to get one of this to beautiful horses. So...

Just for an information, we have here 92 (Regular), 95 (Super) and 98 (Premium) octane fuel.

As I know, as higher octane as better fuel and performance. We have new regulations that almost all cars that consumed regular to adjust their cars for consuming Super, and those with Super to Premium due to Ecology.

BY the way I need to know what is the consumption of MUSTANG - LITRES/per KILOMETRES  ???

Thank you all.

Basicly, I think i am just gonna do what the manual tells me to do...

I know if i get a chip then i need to put super but until then i will probably just do what the manual says..

I just want to do whats best for the engine and will make it last the longest..

I guess i can't go wrong with just going by the manual..

thanx guys..

GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!

I AM FROM SKOPJE!(father), Grandpa lives in CHROME(i dunno how to spell it in macedonian).

There is only 1 mustang in all of skopje and its a WHITE 94-95 V6 next to my cousins house!

BTW, if you in the market for a Daewoo Matiz(dark green/gold), I got one for sale. 5spd and in excellent condition!(in Skopje neighborhood).

Pete

Just use what the manual says. Using higher octane fuel in a car that only needs 89 will not do much, or even anything for that matter. But cars with high compression needs higher octane and if you use the regular gas in it you can damage the engine and it wont run good at all.
