A lot of people would say NOS would be the cheapest horsepower. As far as bolt ons, I'd probably go with intake. The TB, MAF would give you a few more hp, but probably not a huge "seat of the pants" difference. The intake should free up a few more.

Unless you throw on a s/c ($$$), you're really down to TB, MAF, H/C/I.

You could get Tmoss to port your lower intake for about $150 or get an explorer intake and convert it's stock 65mm throttle body to work in your fox. Next, get a set of underdrive pulleys, then buy a used stock 94-95 MAF.

The MAF is a 70 mm unit, and it has the same 19lb calibration that you need.

You really need heads to go with that intake but $400 will only get GT40p's which will need new headers, so that isn't in the budget either.

I would definatley do this...have Tmoss port your lower ($130)...or find a used Cobra/Explorer intake...usually $300 or so...MAF will give you some HP...anything is better than the pathetic 55mm MAF...I would go 75mm on a moderate combo...you can pick a PRO-M bullet up from eBay for like $150...Pullies ($100)...with a lower intake ported, a new MAF, and set of pullies...You will pick up anywhere from 20RWHP to maybe 25RWHP...that's pretty dang good if you ask me...

heads are a complete waste of money if you've not addressed the little things, let alone the intake.
1.7 rockers will net you in the neighbourhood of 2hp. My opinion is, that's a lot of money and hastle for 2hp given less money will net you over 10 when put in the right places.

Your biggest restrictions right now are MAM and lower intake.
Some people are victoms of marketing, there is nothing wrong with the C'n'L 76mm meters on a N/A mild combo... I've experienced nothing but good things with mine. To each thier own.

You need to have an overall plan of where you want to go. Just a couple bolt ons will probably not make much difference.

A sequence that ends up with a bigger tb, maf, intake, injectors, fpr, and then heads will move the car up a level. Then go the cam route. Then start over porting the heads. Etc, etc.

For a "one install" type of improvement-spray it.

How about a set of Ported and Polished GT40P heads should set you back about $500... $600 with a set of 1.90 x 1.60 valves and .550 spring kit. I picked up almost 50 horses by just bolting on these heads...

who said you wont gain anything on a bigger MAF and that upgrading the Intake isent worth it? I have dyno #'s to prove my HP gains w/ a bigger MAF and a Cobra Intake. I picked up 21 RWHP on the dyno, prob came out to about a 35 HP Increase at the flywheel.

WHO is telling u an intake isnt gonna help. go get yourself a cobra or something. should free up a bunch of power. 10-12 maybe more. then decide what u wanna do with teh car and judge what size TB and MAF to get. then after that work your way down. o and also some underdrives

The problem is that most people get carried away with all the power mods, and fail to address the basics.

from your sig, I didn't see control arms. You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't get it to the pavement, then what does it matter??? $400 will get you a super nice set up upper/lower control arms. That's going to give you better results than anything anyone else has said so far (except nitrous) You'll get better traction, and handling. Consider a panhard bar too

:nice: :nice: :nice:

I originally picked up a brand new Cobra intake, brand new 65mm TB, used 70mm MAF and used 24 lb injectors for $400. I sold the injectors and mass air, so basically got an intake and TB for $250 brand new. I suggest shopping around for used stuff, you can get some amazing deals!

If your not changing heads for a while, porting the lower intake will give an excellent power gain and be much cheaper than the Cobra/Explorer style intake. When you upgrade heads you'll be able to get back close to what you paid to have the lower ported. If your going to upgrade heads beyond GT40 style heads in the next year, then go to the Cobra style intake.
