.....that the 17" wheel option on the forthcoming GT's is narrower and taller than what we have now. I know there is the 18" option that has 255's. I just think this is a total joke, one of the few things about the car that bothers me. Look at it this way, 245/45/17 were already available in 1993 on the cobra, and every year after on the gt. I mean you would think they would give us the 18 wheel option for free, but no, most likely it will be a $$$$$ option for about a year or so.

What do you guys feel, maybe I am nitpicking, I just feel it is another way ford is really cashing in on this car. :nonono:

I'm not interested in the '05 Mustang because of the rims. I could care less if they put the base '99 GT rims on them. Whatever rim comes on my car will be gone within a few weeks, maybe days depending on aftermarket speed of getting their rims available. If the 18s are already on them, then I might consider leaving them on.

Hey smart guy, did I say I actually wanted the car.
Anyways I was posing my thought towards you guys for your responses. Its dumbasses with answers like yours that make these boards intolerable at times. Gimme a frikin break anyways. I have a Saleen, if I were to really get that car I could get the stupid option, I can complain about the price all I want. That is what these opinions are for, our voices to be heard.

Btw, thanks to the people giving normal answers.

good question, guess nobody knows?

The reason I ask is because quad shock clearance seems to be the limiting factor on my car. I have KYB quad shocks on my '92 that are larger than stock and the tires rub a little bit. My rear control arm bushings are probably a bit worn and I'm sure that also contributes to the rubbing

THe optional rear tire on saleen's cars is a 295/35ZR18 on an 18x10 wheel. I don't know if they mod the rear suspension geometry to make that fit. I'd be surprised if the retain the stock rear quad location (if at all) with tires that wide.

If the optional tire on the '05 is a P255/45R18 on an 18x9 wheel, I'd be really surprised if a P275/40R18 on an 18x9.5 wheel wouldn't fit and still have plenty of clearance.

From what I can tell they mod the stock rear quad shock setup. If i am not mistaken they also add wheel spacers to help out with the clearance. I may be wrong but this is what it looks like to me. I think 275 are the max that the fenderwells can handle stock. I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong.

On the other hand my 265/35/18 have started to scrape due to the fact my sway bar got out of allignment. But that was not a factory problem, it is due to wear over time.
