I real didn’t know were else to go with this question. It doesn’t really involve any mustangs at all but again I didn’t know were to go and i've always got good information here. Ok here it is I’m trying to find out if Lincoln ever had a 302 with efi. See I have a 68 Torino That I want to make my daily driver but it doesn’t get the greatest mileage ever and doesn’t exactly run, some a**hole shot a rod. I’ve tried to find information on this but I can’t seem to find any information on Lincolns. I’ve read just about everything there is to read on swapping in a fox 5.0 but I want a little better gas mileage and my grandfathers town boat I mean town car gets over 30mpg so I figured id look into Lincoln v8's.

Thanks for any information you can offer

The Lincoln LSCs, Mark VIIs from 86 (maybe 87) up had the EFI HO engine that is basically the same as the Mustang. The brackets are slightly different but are compact enought to work in a Mustang. The wiring is almost idenitical. Make sure you get the AOD transmission and all the wiring with the engine and you will have a damn nice package in your car when done.

any town car from 86-up has efi but it's not the 5.0 ho like the mustangs and lsc's had, but it might be good for a daily driver, another plus is that the throttle linkage on the non-HO 5.0's is on the drivers side so your existing throttle cable might work with little or no mods. one of my best friends has an 86 that will smoke the tires so they have plenty of torque, just not a whole lot of horsepower, but likely a bit more than the 289 or 302 from a 68 torino, if that is what your car has.

I drove that town car for 2 months trust me when i say i know what kind of gass milage it gets. Oh and by the way i never said it was a 302 i never said what year it is and i never mentioned its revelence to this thread i was just illistrating that lincoln does incredable things with computers

Remember that the HOs and the non HOs have diferent firing orders, so get an EFI setup to match your cam, or a cam to match your EFI setup. Also if your motors built and you get a non HO setup you will have 14lb injectors, you can easily starve your motor of fuel, look at getting a set of 19s or even 24s incase you upgrade in the future.

dont kock mustang fuel injection untill uve actually tried it i got a 92 mass air system in the convert with a t5 and a 3.80 rear gear and im still adverging about 16mpg with it thats a mix of highway and in town though and since i just got it together ive still been driving it pretty hard so just crusing id bet 18-20 is possible out of it:)

Lincolns never used the mass air system. They can however be changed to massair fairly easily and inexpensively. Do a google search and you will find what you are looking for. The easiest and best way to go is find a lincoln lsc(markvii) and pull the whole system including the motor, trans, computer, wiring harness. Then if you want to convert to massair you will need to swap in the mustang computer and air meter with the wiring to hook it up.

Mass air or speed density?????? It doesn't really matter. Both will provide you better gas mileage than a carb. The difference lies in the mass air system is much more capable of adapting to changes to the motor. If you up the engines ability to breath (intake, cam, heads, headers) the mass air system can compensate for that where as the speed density system is stuck with the fuel maps that are programed into the computer.

Thereotically the mass air should actually provide better gas mileage however I feel that in real world applications they are probably close to equal. And BTW those lincolns that get 30 mpg aren't V8's. You are talking about the continental which is a transverse V6.

If gas mileage is really a priorty then pull an EFI 4 banger from a stang or a later model 6 banger.

Yeah I thought about a 3.8 but im going from a 351 to a 302 frankly i dont know it i could stomach any bigger of a drop in size. I just cant do it. Plus Ive never made my own mounts and dont feel like experimenting with whats suposed to be my daily driver. And just so everyone knows the lincoln i mentioned is a 96 (i think) towncar with a 4.6 in it and yes it does get an average of 30 or the computer did a dam good job of fooling me!

lincoln computer or mustang wont mean much. I know in my 76 bronco I went from a holldy 2bbl to EFI from a non HO 87 t-bird. easy enough to do by the way, but i went from maybe MAYBE 12 mpg if i was lucky to a stong 16-18. but Broncos arent known for gas mileage, they are still a brick. I would recommend mass air, and i've seen a 90 mark VII with mass and HO.
