im painting my stang and i need to take the cowl grille off where the winshield is, and i cant get it off cuz I THINK i have to take the wiper arms off. Im having trouble with that, so can someone tell me how to get them off or to get the cowl grille off? ALSO, how do i get the door latch off on the outside of the car?

the wiper arms do have to come off and to do this, pull them away from the winshield and pull the little tab out (down at the bottom/where it mounts to the splined shaft, and you might need a screwdriver to pull them out) and the release the arm, it should be held up off the windshield by the tab, then slowly pull out on them, it may require some rocking back and forth to get them to slide off, or mabey even a rag and a set of channel locks

lift the wiper off the windsheild and near the base where the wiper connects to the car there is a little tab. The tab slides out locking the wipers in place. Then you simply slide the whole assembly off the car. Hope this helps.

ashford: right on!
since you are removing it, i would get new ones (metal) from LRS, etc. i think folks use a bolt and nut on them....try a search, it has been outlined often before.
good luck.
oh yeah, wiper stuff is right on too. my pass one wont come off for love or money (i have had it off). i would recommend greasing the splines when you go back on, in hopes of making it easier to get off in the future.

yeah, the metal ones are a good idea, ive replaced my drivers side one twice and passenger side once cause of people trying to break in to my car, and my passenger side one is broken again, im gonna order the metal ones to replace them so they dont break anymore, and ive been using bolts and nuts to hold them on, it makes things alot easier to swap them out.... and the grease on the wiper arm is a great idea.... it would prolly help out alot on getting it off at a later time.... try some channel locks and a rag on that one that your havin trouble getting off (the rag is so you dont scratch it up so bad)
