What defines "Rice"?

I have always understood the term "rice" to be anything that makes you seem to have a faster car than you do, i.e. fart pipes, stickers, emblems that say your v6 is a cobra, or a window sticker that says SALEEN. I have always included a saleen body kit to include this, considering it says SALEEN across the bumper. Am I wrong in feeling this way? Yes it looks nice, but if you're going to spend that much money on a saleen body kit, you can have the words say mustang like normal....

Rice=Imports as in Japanese Rice burners I think it came from crotch rocket, rice burning motorcycles that carried over to the import car craze. I do not think it is because those people eat a lot of rice, but I don't really know. Saleen on the windshield of a Saleen does not mean rice. You are for the most part wrong in your analysis of rice a couple of things could be considered but on some you are very wrong. Maybe I am too?

YES Fart pipes are rice, but you can put them on non import cars, if you are clueless. Rice is not any car faster than yours. If that were true, to me, most of the cars in here would be rice.

ricer = anything apc + a-pillar mounted fire extinguishers + huge tachs on dash + huge $50 fart can exhausts + stock engine w/ colored vacuum hoses and brake calipers.

that is generic rice...oh yes, and an assortment of backseat thugs with earrings and joints in their hands :p

there is the occasional person with a turbocharged b18b honda civic that happens to have altezzas on the back and they can usually put about 280hp so don't take those particular people lightly....

I'm one of those people that likes to "know thy enemy" so for the past 2 years I've dabbled in the honda market and to be honest...I've learned quite a bit. Most part they are all show and no go but there's a select few that will basically lower the car a bit, toss on some spoon replica wheels and an exhaust and then dump about $5k-$8k into the engine and pump out 400hp in an otherwise 2500lb car...

Rice is an attitude. If the guy is into showcar stuff then that's not rice. If it's an import car, then he's not a "ricer" and the car isn't rice. Like I said, it's an attitude really.

To me rice is just ignorance. It's people that don't care about cars in general, as much as they do looking cool with their car.

Ricers are people that just know about stuff they can do with their car. Example: Nissan owners that talk crap about SR20DET swaps. But if you show them an Aston Martin DB5 they'd think it was an old Jaguar.
They don't love cars in general, they just learn enough to make themselves look cool in the eyes of their less educated peers.

This is the only reason we are so condescending. Because we(whether you like imports or domestics) know our stuff. Most people don't find ricers ignorant, cause they themselves don't know crap. But we can spot a ricer talking BS from a mile away.
But ricers don't understand why we get mad at them talking crap. They just insist that they know their stuff and the only reason we don't respect them is because we're arrogant domestic owners. Idiots...

Rice
To me, that would be buying a '89 Civic with major problems (due to age and such, not just 'cause it's a civic) for about $1,000, and then add a $600 body kit and put GT-R emlembs on it.
It's those people who buy bookshelf wings and believe that it adds traction when they go 30mph.

ok.... don't throw that term at people who want to look good

I have a black V6 and I wanted to put dual exhaust, rims, and a saleen bodykit on my car. I want my car to look good before I go and do some engine mods. I eventually plan to put a lot of money into my engine, hoping to making my car a 10 second car, someday. Whats the point of makin ur car fast if u can't look good and have fun doin it? whats that old sayin somepeople look good goin fast and some people look good standing still. Think before u throw that term around. A mustang is an American car.

So do you want to be called a corner then? Would you call someone who puts Type R body panels on his Integra LS a ricer? No one said you have to put a body kit on your car to make it look good. Some aftermarket wheels (lighter than stock of course), a chin spoiler, maybe some modest sideskirts and a rear lip would look really good on a lowered car. You dont have to have a car that has a huge body kit on it that says SALEEN in the back bumper to "look good going fast." You have much to learn my friend.

saleen bodykits look good to me

saleen bodykits look good to me, its all a matter of opinion I guess. I didn't mean to make anyone mad by sayin it, its just my opinion. I just love the design of it. I was just mad that the term ricer got used with a saleen product, cause I don't believe someone making exterior modifications to a mustang makes it a ricer....

The term "ricer" has been generalized to mean anyone who talks crap about other cars and their own car being faster than it is by putting false badging on it or making it look like something it's not.

as far as I'm concerned, Mustangs and Ricers all belong in the same category; always looking for ways to upgrade the look/performance of their cars.

Forget all this ghey crap and get a real car..........M5

You know, there's a bit of truth in your annoying :spam: ..seriously, it's funny you should make this post. Just yesterday I was driving down a road by my house, rolling at about 45. There happened to be a Civic rolling down the same road, doing about 65 with a huge fart cannon. The similarity between the two? We both rolled right past the BMW M5 that was broken down on the side of the road. So yes, in this case the Stanger and the Ricer were in the same category....both of our cars were driving on the road, while the M5 was in a totally different category...sitting on the side of the road while the driver frantically argued with the BMW service tech on his cell phone about "I swear good chap, I fail to ascertain the whereabouts of this hood release of which you speak." :D :flag: Get a life and learn to spell...sorry mods if you consider that a personal attack, but you gotta admit he had that one coming. :D

I'd have to disagree with the saleen thing. If you DO have saleen accessories on your car, i dont think its wrong to have a saleen sticker or whatever on your car. And you CAN'T "have the words say mustang like normal" because all saleen bumpers say saleen.
