Dr. Gas O/R X with MagnaPACKS

ive heard that the magnapacks with a o/r pipe is abnoxiously loud
So have I, but the Dr. Gas is also much quieter than most O/R pipes. That's why I wanted to find out. Worst case scenario I'm only out the $50 that I paid for the Magnapacks.

Well, I put it on this weekend and it is much louder. It is about as loud as 2 chamber flowmasters w/ an O/R H-pipe. I am pretty sure that there will be a drone, but I don't know for sure. I have not had a chance to drive it on the freeway yet, and the quick bursts don't count.

I, personally, like the sound but it might be a little too much for some. One thing is for sure: ricers will think twice about trying to mess with you :D It sounds mean as hell!

I already have a soundclip of my previous setup. This weekend I plan to go to the same spot with the same camera and take a new clip. Hopefully that will give a pretty good comparison between the two.

Thanks for the help guys. :nice:

Glad you like it. Having the packs and then adding a O/R X pipe is a shock at first, but it grows on you. My friend has a 03 GT and his has no mods at all, the difference in volume between our two vehicles is quite noticeable...his car is just a bit boring to drive!

What he is talking about with the magnaflows and the packs with a catted pipe is true. It is a matter of backpressure. Even though people think that they should open up there exhaust completely, it is wrong. On a stock or nearly stock car not making that much power, you will actually run worse if you open up completely. So in theory of backpressure, any straight thru muff will perform better with a hi flow cat combo, where as a chambered muff will perform better with a off road pipe. People will disagree with this that has the straight thru muffs and the off road pipe because it is loud. People think that when there car gets louder that it is faster and it is just not true. just my .02

Thats not true at all...I had 'packs, offroad H-pipe AND Longtube headers on my car and while I didnt notice a power iincrease after puting that on I noticed a HUGE LOSS of power after taking the headers and offroad h pipe.....That setup is pretty mmuch as open as it gets.......got me stopped more than once because of it being so loud though This was on a stock car pretty much. SO just because you have alot less backpressure doesnt mean its gonna hurt you.
