I just recently go my Mach 1 and I was wondering what kind of exhuast would be the best.

Borla?
Bassani?
or
Magnaflow?

thanks

Congrat's on your new mach! Awsome machine. I love mine.
As for as exhaust, are you talking about a complete exhaust(headers, midpipe, and cat back) or just a cat back and/or mufflers? Also, are you looking for performance or sound. Most mufflers are about the same performance wise so it just depends on what sound you want. You also need to consider price and quality. Stainless steel is more durable but more expensive.
There are some sites where you can listen to different exhausts and compare, but I don't remember right off hand.
By the way, have you registered your car at the Mach1 Registry? They have a ton of info on the site.

Bassani?

I think the general opinion of Bassani is that their pipes are expensive and difficult to install. I can say that if you go with 4" Bassani piping, you aren't going to have fun with the installation process, and your exhaust will most likely rub against the frame and tap against the rear sway bar when going over bumps. As far as power, I'm not too sure, but I would bet that the increase in performance over a less-expensive pipe is trivial. And as far as looks go, I bet my MAC cat-back pipes look just as good, if not better. But if money is no object to you, and you don't mind working to make things work, then Bassani could be the right choice.

The other side of this argument is the general word that Bassani has the best exhausts, at least I've heard this from more than a few sources. Another plus is that Bassani pipes, being made of stainless steel, are more durable. But at the same time, someone just recently posted a message on SVTPerformance.com that in "test after test, Mac made the most power..":

Do the x-pipe man...

I just installed Borla stingers and love the sound, but they need the X-pipe. Go to Mustangexhaust.com and check the different clips. I bought the Borla Stingers from Ninosport, one of the mustangexhaust sponsors. They were $425 with free shipping, and were delivered in 3 days. great.

Everybody has their own preference for sound and performance. Go through the clips and see what you like, but after driving with the Stingers, I like the way an x-pipe evens out the flow. I don't like the "staggered" or uneven flow sound when downshifting or decelerating that my stock h-pipe on the Mach has. My Saleen has an x-pipe and the sound when downshifting or decelerating is smooth with a deep rumble. Some day the Mach will get X'ed.

I've been tossing around the same questions. I got down to a choice between Borla and Bassani and have decided to go with Borla Stingers. I've seen both and have heard nothing bad about the fitment on Borla's and I can't say the same for the Bassani. With the Borla coming in at almost 1/2 the price of the Bassani, it wasn't a real difficult decision.... and I have money left over for other mods.

I'll be using the stock H-pipe and see how it works...

I understand that between the three- Borla, Bassani and Magna- the perfomance rating remains comporable- with that in mind- I'm looking to get the deepest, rawest as well loudest sound out of my exhaust- is there a recommendation of which would be the best for this- as well as cost effective???

Borla Stingers without a doubt!!!!!
My friend has a 03 cobra with them and another with a Mach with them
and they both sound unreal.

They are deeper and maybe even louder than my car(sig)
and they both have the stock H.

the 04's have 4 cats ...i just installed magnapacks and there not as loud as they where in my 00gt wit 2 cats...ford only did this in 04...WTF make a new mid pipe for 1 year! now i must buy a mid pipe

I heard the bassani x-pipe with cats and a cat back and it is the perfect Mussle car sound. I think you should hear the ones your considering in person the sound clip don't do justice to the way they sound. The driver said it's a bolt on system and he's a ford dealer and have tried flowmaster and magaflow. This was the system he ended up with with the deep growl and no drone, it sound awesome IMO.

All three are good choices, is Bassani really worth more than the other two? I
don't see how, I have personnally helped install 2 of their systems and when
unpacked ugly looking welds with a little rusty scale on them.(possibly from
sitting around?) Great sound but not for my money. Borla and Magnaflow, I have owned both, loved both, with exellent quality and fitment. Currently I have a flow/cb and catted/X and couldn't be happier. The overall sound is
just personal preference.(Packs or Stingers being louder, flows quieter) My
only advise is you're only going to do this once so stay away from the lesser
systems (especially anything that isn't high grade stainless!) I see someone
already posted a great price for the borla system, so for Magnaflow try
performancePeddler.com great service and both pieces for just over $600

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has Dynoed their Mid Pipe and Cat Back gains, I was interested in finding out what the peak gains are, someone told me a new Mid and Cat Back could be worth 20FWHP is that true?

Not to be a post thief but, a good friend of mine bought an 04 Mach about mid April and just recently got a killer deal on a BBK X-Pipe. We put it on last weekend along with his 2-chambered flows and to tell you the truth it doesn't sound that good when he gets up into the RPMs'. It sounds like it rattles. The exhaust tone. Not like it's hitting something. It's an O/R by the way. Is this b/c it's a BBK? I have a o/r Dr. Gas and mine sounds awesome. I also have a 5.0 too. Help me out with suggestions or reasons to why this is happening. Thanks

Magna flows either packs on standard are the best for performance they are straight through flow no chambers. and despite what some say there is a lot of difference between mufflers performance wise do your research and listen to clips etc. it took me about 2months of research before i decided on my magnaflows but I'm totally happy and don't regret my decision because I took the time to be sure. When I was under the car dooing my swap a guy walked by an BS'd with me he said mustang owners are the worst about deciding on an exhaust he told me he had seen several stangs switching cat backs because they changed their minds. So do the research. and don't listen to those that tell you to weld a muffler on your stock system. it will only get you better sound.
