I am about to put a deposit on a Lotus Elise, So when we both get our cars I will be glad to see what you can do in the twisties against a car that has 100+ less HP than you
I don't know how accurate those times you got there are, but lets just put like this. Evos are priced around $30K, and maybe you could get one for $28 or so. So if a GT is $26K you may be able to get it for $24K. You save $4K right there. The $4K plus throw the $3K you would have spent on modding the Evo and you could have a pretty serious GT. Not only that you will have a nicer car the can handle the power. The Evo and STi are cool and I am impressed with their performance, but I'm not impressed with there problems. I don't think they are that reliable. They're not even that could on gas. It all comes to preference. Do you want a 4 dr sedan 4 banger turbo AWD or a 2dr V8. IMO, I prefer the stang, thats why I have two.mball said:

Yeah, it is fun but, its annoying when these people come on here and ask good questions or even stupid ones and then they start saying we suck because we like mustangs. I think these people come in here from other forums to get us worked up and then they go back and share it with there friends. Just annoying. Thats my rant for today. I've been away for awhile and today they left me alone all they with the PC so I had to do something!

have you not been reading?! thats what im pointing out. they are different. the fact is they are both evo8's. there is a u.s. version of the evo8, and there is a japanese version. accept that i am right and get over it already!

I'm pointing out that they are not the same, They have different drivetains. The biggest difference is the Japanese version has a 6 speed manual and the US version has a 5 speed manual. That is not the same to me.
It is like a Z28 or Mach 1 owner saying they have a SS or Cobra. Sure they are very close , but they are not the same.
You sound like someone who would sticker-charge.
EVOs are cool for what they are... They just scream "boy racer" though. I'm almost 29, and would feel a little silly driving in a car that looks like it came out of a hot wheels box. I know the car has the street credibility, but its looks seem to scream out, "Look at me! I'm fast... really!" The mustang is much more subtle and self assured in its appearance. Everyone knows that Mustangs are fast. You don't need to adorn the car with performance stickers for attention.

Why are you all arguing about this? The evo is an evo 8, period. Just because its differnt in the jdm market doesn't mean anything. The USDM STi has a 2.5 liter engine, JDM STi has a 2.0, that mean what i'm driving now isn't an STi? Things change with between JDM market and USDM market, the lancer evolution that is out right now is an evolution 8.

The Evo8 is called that because it is the 8th version to be built and sold to the Japanese public.
The US Evo is simply the EVO because no others have ever been sold in the states.
It has different options, different tranny different body parts.
That is like me passing my 65 fastback off as a GT when it has only 1 thing in common with a GT, the exhaust exits through the rear valance.
Besides that...
It came factory with a 2bbl (GT's all had 4 bbl)
It came drum brakes (GT's had discs)
It had no side stripes (Gt's had those too)
It had no fog lights (yup, those were standard on the GT as well)
It came with different suspension set up
The list goes on...
But my car is a certifiable 1965 Mustang Fastback GT
