hey everybody,
does anyone know where i could find an 87-93 lx or gt for under a thousand dollars. i am looking to build myself a drag car, the engine can be toast i just want the body and stuff. if anyone could help it would great.

Well.....depending on just how hardcore this drag car you plan to make is, I'd probably look at getting a LX 2.3L mustang (if you are planning to totally drag prep it) over a 5.0 model, which you can find around that price. I think you will have a hard time finding a GT or LX 5.0 (even with a toasted engine) for under a grand with having a clean straight body, possible though.

i dont really care which engine, i just like the body style and i wanna stay with it. i need something that i can build, i need something to work with you know. something that i will know i did on my own.

it will be hard to find one that has a decent body for under $1500 and that is for a 4 banger I was tring to do the same and gave up after I went and looked at a couple of cars and they were flat out trash and the body work bill would have been more than what I paid for the car. if interested a friend has a I believe 88 or so LX hatch 5.0 automatic for around $2300 not sure how negotiable he is but money talks.

yeah that seems a little out of my price range at the moment, i guess i will just have to keep looking at keep saving. thanks for the info though.

I bought an 89 Mazda MX6 GT 2.2L Turbo 5 speed for 125 bucks. I sold it for 400, just because I'm not a moron and knew the car didn't run because of boost leak it had. That would've been an awesome drag car. Weld the diff together and crank up the boost. Cheap and damn fast

if you like the fox body style you could also look at the capri's i found my capri with v6 for 100 didnt run it just blew the motor but thats my prject car and you would need to up grade the rear axel to at least an 8.8 which 150-200 is not a bad price then motor and trans and there you go.
