Turbos prduce airflow CFM's not boost...boost is just a side affect.

14psi at 300cfm or 14psi at 600cfm are to completely different things

Have you ever heard the saying "In Paxton you trusted, but your ass got busted?" This is a saying in most heads up drag racing classes because most people used a Paxton because they had a reputation of making more power. They've had to restrict the Paxton users to using smaller (bigger diameter) pulleys.

After reviewing the rules for NMRA real street, I noticed that on a 5.0 car, with a Vortech you can use (a minimum of) a 6.87" crank pulley with either a 3.33" or 3.47" depending on head unit. But with a Paxton, you can only use a 6.87" crank pulley and a 3.70" blower pulley.

I'd use a Paxton :D.

wrong/blower turbo is not the point.

14 psi at the out flow of the power adder is 14 psi. Period. you take pump of choice Turbo/roots/cetrifugal/cambell hausfield, and attach them to a plenum, with a constricted outflow, and spin them all untill they presurize the plenum to 14psi, and the volumetric flow at the restriction point will be the same no matter how you presurized it.

If your pump is not efficient enough to MAINTAIN 14psi, you will have problems, and each pump will bring their 14psi to the party in a different way, but if you change nothing else in the engine/intake combo, at 14psi, it will flow the same and make the same power, regardless of the way in which the intake manifold (plenum) was pressurized. Heck you can put a turbo, a blower and nitrous on a car and still not break 300 HP if you cant flow the air, but thats not the power adder's fault.
 
i've got a powerdyne 9 psi. on my car and i'm not dissapointed in it. i've had it for almost two years now and never had any problems with it at all.

i'm not saying powerdynes are problem free, just that my experience with them hasn't been bad at all.

although if i could go through it again i'd buy a vortech just because of their excellent reputation and reliability.
 
i never had any mechanical problems with the blower so i cant complain about that. my complaint lies with the fitment.....whoever engineered that pulley system and bracket arrangement should be shot.

this is how a turbo works. the impeller spins reguardless but you adjust to how much boost you let through.

with a blower you could do this and make 10 pounds sooner with a smaller pulley. of course the smaller pulley would take a little more hp to spin it, but you are creating that flat curve up top at the boost of yoru choice to protect your motor and head gaskets from the higher boost.

or you could do like me and just put the smallest pulley on and max the blower out :rlaugh:
