Bullitt Brake Upgrade

Hi,
I want to upgrade the front brakes on my 02 GT to that of the Bullitts. I have seen that mustangparts.com sells a kit for $399 that includes everything you need. But I really don't want to use their pads or rotors, would rather find better ones on my own. And would prefer to get SS braided lines. So I don't think it would be worth it for me to buy the whole kit only to use the calipers and mounting brackets. I found a set of calipers at:

One thing I'm not sure of is if these calipers also come with the mounting brackets at that price? Has anyone else bought these from this store? Or does anyone else know of a cheaper way to get the calipers, mounting brackets and good braided SS brake lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you may want to call to check on the price. the description states "special pricing through 3/31/03"

i am thinking about getting a kit through "speedconcepts.net" they include choices of rotors and ss lines at a comparable price.

by the way, whomever has already done the upgrade, did you do your rears as well or just maintain the stock rears? i'd like to get the same calipers front and rear, do i need new rear rotors?

"Front braided stainless steel brake hose set for all Cobra, Bullitt and Mach Is, documented US DOT spec, ask about the discounted price when purchased with the Cobra or Bullitt brake kits above," That might work out to your advantage. Also, the kit includes Brembo rotors, you really aren't going to find any rotors much better than that without getting something custom. As for the rears, the Bullit/Cobra rotors are thicker and larger than the GT rotors, the Cobra pads are thinner, and the Cobra uses different mounting brackets (to locate the caliper correctly on the bigger rotors). The calipers themselves, however, are about the same.
 
mrcorpse: so if i am going to get new calipers in the rear, i will need to get rotors and the bracket as well, correct? does anyone sell a kit, i am looking to get the 10th anniversary rotors.


before anyone cries about the cobra label brakes... engine swap is soon.
 
Thanks for all the help guys. I didn't realize you could substitute the SS lines into the kit at www.mustangparts.com for an extra charge. And after thinking about it, I think I'll be better off sticking with the brembo rotors instead of going with a crossdrilled or slotted rotor. So I'll probably just end up ordering from them. The kit with the slotted rotors from www.speedconcepts.net looks interesting they seem to be a no-name rotor, so I'd be a little worried about them warping. Again, thanks for the help.
 
pfdman: mustangparts.com has a rear upgrade kit as well, for the same $399 price. I'm not sure it's worth it performance-wise, you might be better off getting a good set of pads/rotors and just painting the calipers.

Here's their kit:
Cobra rear 12" brake kit, includes 2 Cobra brake calipers, 2 caliper mounting brackets, 2 anti-moan brackets, rear brake pad set and 2 Brembo brake rotors, perfect for 1994-04 Mustangs!, limited quantity, new

The rears are a bit harder to change out than the front, I'm pretty sure you have to take the axles off to get the new brackets on.

Whatever you do, make sure you put in good brake fluid, and bleed properly. Be sure to follow a good break-in procedure too (do a search on corner carvers, it's been covered pretty extensively there).
