fortunately I have never had this problem. how many miles on your car? I would assume you're running pig rich, possibly could be plugs, dirty fuel system, change your fuel filter lately? if it's an 02 I'm thinking it still might be under warranty? take it in , that's not right, I get 250 + with a mix of highway and street driving. I get 270+ when I drive mostly on the highway, good luck.

I drive mostly city and mine's horrible as well. I've filled the tank up last Friday and it's already near empty, despite not driving many miles!

however, I do tend to drive the car like I've stolen it :cautious:;

bad gas mpg

10 mpg something wrong, O2 sensors, fuel filter,vacume leak,plugs fouled, air pressure in tires to low, brakes dragging .... you will have to run a test with the obd even though the light may not be on......way to low even if you drive hard......................................

has a check engine light come on yet? does your exhaust smell funny or normal? if you've driven with the car like this for more than a tank or two and the check engine light has not come on yet, try unplugging the battery for 30 mins to let the computer reset. if your your A/F ratio is off, you O2's should be picking it up. does it want to stall?

check the battery for corrosion. let the car run in the garage (with the doors open!) and listen for a ticking sound that sounds like it's coming from the exhaust pipes near the manifold. if you hear it, it's a misfire and sometimes the computer will not pick it up for several hundred miles. you might want to yank the spark plugs out and inspect for wear and/ or fouling. if they come out oily or blue, it's a bad sign. maybe check the spark plug wires to make sure they're firmly attached and nothing is getting in between them and the actual spark plug.

You probably need to go and get it serviced...sounds like you aren't getting as much air into there as you should be.

If it is the same story after you get it serviced you might want to think about putting a Cold Air Intake in there and getting a tune done to check and see what your a/f looks like and get that corrected.

When you say 175 miles to a full tank, how much gas is that. When you refill it check. If you are calling a full tank from full to when the low fuel light comes on, then your low light may just be coming on earlier than your friends cars. Whats your actual mpg?

no its a full tank bacuse i fill it up when the light comes on or a little befor. so when i do fill it up it fills up 12.7 gallons... that is perfect because 99-2004 gt's have a 15.7 gallon tank and subtract the 3 gallon reserve tank it has build in and thats 12.7 :) thanks alot

Dont worry, i average about 180 a tank too, city driving, with a lead foot, and Its really not all that big of a tank. I can pull about 225 wiht some mixed highway/city driving. I do need to change the fuel filter though, its in my garage...waiting....oh well. Hope it gets better.

Hmmm, come to think of it, I DID get the "Service Engine Soon" light to come on ever since getting the 4.10s and Diablosport chip installed. I suppose it's a good time for me to get it checked out :cautious:

I just got a 2004 Mach 1 and i get about 180 per tank. Maybe thats caus ei drive all city for work though. Ill keep you updated if i get any positive changes, and how

I'm still breaking in my Mach 1 and that's about what I'm getting too. My 98 GT has more power and still gets 19-20 MPG around town where the Mach 1 is getting 16-17. I still like it though... :D
