Ok so my 68 has already been sprayed 03 Mustang True Blue (base/clear)including door jams, inside trunk, under hood etc etc....

Anyway the painter ran out of paint before he painted my Eleanor nose (which is off of the car right now). So anyway I have to buy more paint, so I'm thinking since there will some paint left over, and while the car is already so disassembled just go ahead and have him paint some of the interrior. What interrior pieces do custom jobs normally paint w/ the same exterrior color ? So far I told them to use flatner in the interrior paint so it's not as shiney inside the car, and to paint the inside of the doors, the a pillars, under the dash, and the side metal in the back seats under the rear side windows. I'm going to change to black carpet, and black headliner, black door panels etc.. and add the charcoal grey leather seats from my 2000 GT. I'll put light weight seats, and rear seat delete in my '00 at the same time. So basically my 68's interrior will be black, and (dark) true blue w/ grey leather seats. Sound OK ? I just came up w/ the ideas when I went to visit the car yesterday -

Will my 2000's seats be a direct replacement in my 68 ? Front, and rear ? Can I keep the electric drivers seat adjustments ?

I personally would be very scared about the paint matching off the nose with the rest of the body. That is unless you were smart and paid the extra $50 for the exact forumula. But the true blue will look great!

I am still going between sonic blue, true blue, and the blue off the chevy trucks.

The interio painting of the true blue will look great also.

I hope to see some picts soon!

didn't even think about that - we'll see. Pics coming soon. Hopefully I'll have it back in a week or so. Looked pretty dark indoors. I'm still very happy w the color though after seeing it. Can't wait to see it done in sunlight.

Any suggestions / input on the seats ?

I'm also looking forward to seeing your car finished. :nice:

The front seats should fit without too much modification. If any, it would be making new holes for them. I have no idea about the electric driver seat thing.

I'm pretty sure the rear seats will be harder.... When changing seats most people usually get their original rear seats redone with material similar to the newer front seats. So, I'm assuming there would be more modification involved.

I agree with Oboe about the possibilty of the paint not looking right on the nose. Metallics, pearls and such need to be oriented in the same way the sit on the car in order to match. By that I mean that laying the nose down so the headlights look up towards the ceiling rather than how it sits on the car is a no-no. There's a '34 coupe around my area that was painted in pieces (as are most street rods) and the painter laid the hood sides flat when he sprayed them.It looks all the same color on an overcast day or in low light, but in sunlight you can see the color difference a mile away caused by the way the metallic layed down.

As soon as it's done pics will be up here ASAP trust me. I can't wait to see what the big billet grills, polished rims, and new rear chrome bumper will look like on True Blue.

Should I take a day off to go put in a new black headliner before they re install my front, and rear windshields ? Or is it OKto do w/ the windows in the car ?

from what I understand it is much easier with the windows out. When I pull the old headliner out I had to remove the front and back glass to complete the job.
