If I don't figure this out I'll burn my car to the ground

My timing is jumpin like a bullfrog.

My car is pissin me off huge.
It's really weird. One day I started my car up there was no problems it started like a champ as usual.I didn't even drive it, I went to go for a drive the next day and it wouldn't start. It would turn over for awhile and then all of a sudden It would bind up. I know it is a timing problem cuz I losened the distibuter and backed it of until I could get the car to fire and then reset the timing.(spout out obviously). The timing had jumped huge.
Everything was fine for awhile and all of a sudden it did it again.
What can the problem be, the timing chain? I thought they were double roller chains with steel gears I didn't think it was a very common problem in mustangs.
It almost seems as if it is jumping a tooth. But my buddy said he didn't think that was the problem.
Has anyone else ever had a problem like this?
I don't honestly have anyclue as to what else the problem could be!!!!
And I'm getting pissed about it. :bang: :bang: :bang:

BURN BABY BURN!

No no, I was only kidding.
First start by taking out the distributer and seeing what kind of shape the teeth are in. If it seems ok after that, I would take a large wrench to the crank. With the distributer back in, but the cap removeed so you can see the rotor, turn the crank a bit in both directions to see if the rotor moves in unison with the crank. You dont have to turn it very far. The rotor will only move at half the speed, but it should never pause, if you get what I mean. The crank may be easier to move with the plugs out.
Otherwise you will have to start pulling things apart.
Good luck.

Well, start turning the crank. It should let you know how the timing chain is holding up.
The other thing I forgot about earlier, is to check the teeth on the cam. This may be a bit hard to do. You may have to have a friend crank while you check with a light.

Virtually none.
How much are we talking about?
If it is more than a few degrees, you may have a problem.
By the way, when my timing chain went, it took the valves, pushrods, and main bearings out with it.
I didn't find out about the mains until I had the heads fixed, and I had no oil pressure.
