Ok lets talk mileage . who is getting it ?

Since gas is almost at $2 a gallon who here is getting great fuel mileage ?what improvements work ? I seem to be stuck in the 23-24 range with my 93 5 spd car. Car has a ranger header, air silencer removed and 3.45 rear gears. I will :D admit my commute speeds average arourd 75-85+ mph but even on cruise I do not seem to get much better. Thanks W.

What kinda wire and plugs furvel? I have to get some new ones.

I'm gonna get crucified here for not using Motorcraft parts. I used Autolite platinum plugs (so I don't have to change them again for a long time) and generic plug wires. My 'vert is not a racer, it's for cruuuuising.

to give you guys a bench mark, my grand marquis is getting 14 in daily driving, that include mountain, freeway, and city driving. and my six cylinder falcon averaged 21 in the same conditions.

Gas tank size

According to my quick start brochure (amazing that it was stil in the glovebox when I bought the car) the fuel tank capacity is 15.4 gallons.

I can't say whether this is true for other Mustangs, but my educated guess would be that this would apply to at least '79-'89 Stangs. '90-'93 changed engines, and possibly the tank.

my 90 gets a consist 29 mpg with 3.27 gears and a 5-speed the last set of motorcraft sparkplugs went 115,000 miles and wern't platnum my 86 GT has 240,000 on stock replacement plugs most of my driving is hiway 75 to 85 mph with the gear that in it turns about 2700 rpm at 80mph.

The 91-93 2.3s all have the same 15.4 tank. I get about 28 on the highway, before I made some of my mods (cutting off the EGR ) I was getting almost 30 mpg.

I get around 28-32 mpg in my 88 5 speed. It is pretty much bone stock for now. But hey, you cant complain about the fuel economy. Actually, I am going to a do a full tune-up on it soon, hopefully that will increase economy a bit. Mind you, my motor only has about 2200 miles on it, so that helps a lot.
