I have a 91 GT w/ this thing on it. It's connected to a connector and a hose runs out each side - one hose is plugged with a bolt, one is open.

I checked my stock 90 LX 5.0 and it has this all hooked up and stuff, but I still don't know what it is. Couldn't find it in the book either...

don't have smog on the GT. On the LX, one of the hoses from that cansister thing routes to the connection thing and then up to the upper intake. The other line is kinda hard plastic and routes up into the fenderwell. The cobra intake has the connection capped off...guess I can pull it off?

If you have no cats the valve that's inbetween the rubber tubing is useless, it went to the air pump. Do you still have the air pump? If so that's useless too.

The box upfront is the charcoal canister, that's pretty much useless too. It has an airline that runs with the fuel lines to the back of the car and vents gas fumes into there. Most people i know remove the box and cut the tube leaving it in the fender well.
It may not be doing anything anyway, usually when you put a 2.5 catback on, the rattling of the pipes smashes the tubing up anyway, right over the top of the axle.

im pretty sure its the fuel evac canister for fuel vapors to go into from the gas tank

good shootin. that is what it is. i took mine off about two weeks ago. cap it at the intake (i think you said it already was). then trace the line, it should go through the passenger fender right behind the strut tower. cut if off there. then look right at the base of the inner fender and you can see it going under the car to the gas tank. i pulled mine through and cut it again right there. i had originally left a small piece of it in the engine bay but got a fuel smell. after i clipped it under the car no problem. throw that crap out. im sure it is no good by now, mine wasnt. it looks alot better without it there too. hope that helps you.

P.S. excess vapors are pulled from the tank, so dont cap it off. :spot:
