your a scmuck.

Your calling me a scmuck??? :rlaugh: :bs: Ya... really good there man.... I'm not the idiot going around calling pushrod's, valverod's and lifter dogbones, slider block's. Are you really that dumb that you don't even know the proper term's for internal engine part's. I tried helping you earlier with recomending you use a 650 Speed Demon on your 5.0, and what do I get in return??? My recomendation was the only one on the whole thread that made any real scense and would most likely work the best for your combo, so let's forget all this BS and get back to what this topic is about....Carb Selection.

Ok, first you insulted my man, Yount, which pissed me off, but then you seemed to be cool again. But then you insulted me by saying your post was the best response, now you've really pissed me off. I think anyone that puts a 5.0 in a chevy, 240Z, or Volvo gets props in my eyes, though I'd prefer to have one in a 240Z. I dont agree with the Edelbrock because I've had them on 2 different cars and each time the thing ran horrible and I hate them so much. Not only are they a horrible performance carb, parts are limited for them, they run like crap, and you cant use them for blowthrough. I dont think you have any right getting pissy to anyone NEWB so I recommend cooling your jets. There is no question, the car needs a 600 to 650 cfm Holley or Demon. Whether he wants vac or mech. secondaries is more of a personal preference. The actual correct size for a 306 with 6000 rpm max, dual plane intake, and 85% VE is 542-677 cfms. The larger being more performance oriented, but anything in that range will work fine for his car. For great performance, perfect cfm for the specified range given above, and great streetability, and price, I recommend the Road Demon 625. It comes with fuel line, electric choke, vacuum secondaries, its cfm rating is perfect, and its cheap at $340.

I noticed the regulator piped directly to the carb, hope you got solid motor mounts on that thing.

Looks nice in there though :D

Okay, I'd have to thank Mr Y for helping me a million times, however, I must respectfully disagree on the carb, my buddy ran a '85 carbed with an Edle carb, and it ran kinda crappy...

Please 408, keep the hating to a minimum... that man knows his ****

Yikes! I try to choose my words carefully - although I'm not sure others always read them as carefully. I think I said "if it were mine" -- the implication is, of course, here's what I'd do. It's a forum - different opinions are what it's all about. I try to be respectful, and I learn a lot from you guys. I've been on the planet a few years, and during that time I've seen a lot more guys switch their street and street/strip cars from Holleys to Edelbrocks and be happy about it, than I've seen the other way around. BG makes a great carb - I doubt anyone would be unhappy with it.

408 - there's nothing I can add; your posts speak for themselves. This portion is particularly amusing...."My recomendation was the only one on the whole thread that made any real scense...." Wow - humility and irony. Some day perhaps you'll zero in on what's really important and wonder why you're making such a fuss about things. For what it's worth (little to you I'm sure), the last two outings with the car were Ford only events - the organizers are always excited to register me by the way - and I probably got more compliments on the manifold faceplate than on any other single part of the car. What are you complaining about anyway - the "V8" emblem came off an Explorer! Chill man, you're gonna explode.

MY I have to admit I was being an ass last night. :nonono: Was having a really bad day, so today I'll lay off, and stop making a fool of myself. Sorry about the comment's I made toward your 5.0 as well, although I still have to say that salyzman is really a loser. :notnice:
I've never been a big fan of Edelbrock carb's. But I do have to say that they are a great carb when it comes to ecomomy and reliability, but they are a little behind when it comes too true performance. They are not a bad buy if your on a strict budget.
Anyhow I will chill, so take it easy man and no hard feeling's I hope. :D
