vs Infiniti G35 and a tech Q

a guy i goto school with has a G35 and everyone thinks he will own me if we race...so we're setting it up. All he has is a cold air intake. The question i have is that his cold air intake took out the air silencer and now it makes a crazy loud noise when he revs that sounds like a really really long blow off valve. Is there an air silencer is our fox's? Or something similiar thats holding back the sounds. I already have a Cold Air Intake.

Thanks, Im pretty confident I'd win.

The air silencer is the horn shaped part of the stock airbox that lives under the front passenger side fender. Remove the stock filter and some screws (I think there are screws) and it will come out.

You take out the stock air box and then you will see a horn shaped black plastic piece inside the fender. It's held to the fender by 3 nuts. That's the silencer. Take it out and toss it.

Of course, you won't get any whistle noise. Actually you might with a CAI if you had a stock exhaust, but who has a stock exhaust on a Mustang anymore??

I hope you can drive, the G35 coupes are pretty fast. Mid to high 14 second cars. The 4-door and AWD models are pretty fast but heavy. Off the line you should dominate if you can hook. I have raced some G35 coupes and have won.

BTW...how does a HS kid afford s $35,000+ car?

People think will "own" you because they think it looks faster. Dorks just want it to be faster because your car cost a fraction of thiers. The truth is they have nothing on a V8 bottom end, but they are decently fast on the highway, but you should be able to take him. Is yours an auto or 5speed. Either way...

Do you have gears? Get gears and embarras him.

I can buy TWO mustangs for the price of ONE g35 and kick ass twice!!!!!!
No seriously, it's like the camaro z28 vs mustang GT war except more so. What you can seriously save on buying the mustang gt you can mod the heck out of it, hook it up with nitrous, super/turbo charged and still have plenty left over. G35's are fast for what they are, but the buyer definitely pays for the technology that nissan though at its way.

the air silencer is under the right side fenderwell....and my cold air intake makes a similar sound you are discribing, i have the chrome bbk fenderwell cold air intake.... if i rev or accellerate you can hear it make a sucking sound.

I have a friend that bought a G35 sedan. He thought he would dominate me. As a rule I normally don't race my car at all, but he just went on and on about how fast his car was and how the 5.0 was very outdated and slow. My car is an AOD with stock 2:73 gears. We went three times from a dead stop and I won everytime. The G35 can't compare with a stock 5.0 in low end torque. However I have driven his car and I would say it would own me out on the highway.

These kinds of threads always entertain me. Reminds me of the time I was in a movie theatre and I overheard two teenagers (who were much too old to be having the conversation) passionately debating who would win a fight between Darth Vader and Chewbacca. You know, as if it could actually happen and really mattered.

Whatever you do, take the race to the track. Where you and everyone else can see the outcome. And where if anything happens, no innocent bystanders will pay the price. Practice your launches - you have a good chance of flubbing a run with too much wheel spin. With less torque, he won't have to worry about that.
