i have a 99 auto v6, i spent a bunch of money on new tires, brakes, rotors. Which would be the best between dropping in a 4.6 with new tranny or supercharging? i will have about 5000 to spend. or maybe buying a gt would be better??? need help

supercharge or sell it and get a v8. don`t do a swap it is too time consuming and expensive plus the resale vale will be nill and if you don`t report that you have a v8 to your insurance company they will not pay for damages in an accident.

i`d just procharge it

Well since you already put in money on tires and such, and you only have $5000 to spend, I'd say supercharge. A Procharger installed, and an upgraded rear, should not exceed that amount. That should give you a nice all-around car.
The other two options might cost you more than you have. A swap is time-consuming, and can create expensive problems, especially if you need professional help. A trade-in is sure a good idea, but you probably will loose on the value of your car, and might overpat the GT.
So overall, just supercharge it, do some drivetrain upgrades, and maybe suspension if you have a few extra dollars left.

man go for the GT. it ends up being alot more money then you originaly think its going to be, trust me :nonono:
plus the GT would be a better base for a higher performace car, better trany, gearing, and other things. you could get some pretty good money for your car(make sure you do a dealer trade and take off all the stuff you put on and put back the stock stuff cause you wont get much for that stuff, then sell that stuff on ebay or something) then with 5 grand your looking at a nice GT with cash left over! you should go for that :nice:

I agree with the sell and buy a V8 statements, except for the comment about trading in. Never do that...unless you get super lucky, you wont get near the $$$ for it that you would through a private party sell. Now, sell the V6 for ~$7,500 rough estimate, and putting that with your $5,000 you could get a low mileage 99-00 GT or possibly a 96-98 Cobra (my personal choice between the two) if you can catch a good bargain. If you want something easy to mod, 5.0s (both fox and SN-95) are a dime a dozen and can be had for cheap, and based on what you have to spend you could land one and have a little mod money left over to play with. I love the idea of the Procharger, but compared to a DOHC Cobra or a built 5.0... I think its a no brainer. :nice:

i have a similer question... I was thinkingt about selling my 00 v6 auto, 43k, all stock except i painted some interior panels. Its in show shape though clean as a whistle. i am looking to buy a gt possibly a 98 but im open for opinions so what and how much do you think i could get out of my v6?

I disagree with never trading a car in. There are some times when it is better to trade it in. First of all its a lot easier than selling privately. Also, you don't have to pay tax on the amount of your trade. For example, if you sell a car privately and get $7,500 at 6% tax(in NJ) you end up needing to spend an extra $450 when you buy the car from a dealership. So, if the dealership is giving you ~$7000 for the car it ends up being about the same.
I think its best to see what the dealer will give you first then compare that to what you can get privately and facter the extra tax in. Also, you have to negotiate because in my experience dealerships will underquote what they will give you for your car and if you negotiate you can get them to increase it by a couple thousand dollars sometimes.

Aint' nothing with wanting a V8, the only non-v8 I have is my Ranger. But dependent on your age and a few other factors (like the price of gas/insurance) Personally I'd advice the installation of a Procharger, V6 gas mileage with GT performance. After my brother came to visit everyone asked me if his car was a Cobra or a GT, it's neither it's a supercharged V6 with the stalker kit. And several mustang owners and rice boys wanted to race.
You can have looks, power and respect out of a V6. Plus if you're pushing 300hp verified, you can just tell people to shut up or put up.

Dude I have the ricer **** on cause I'm young and I like that kind of stuff... once i'm old and need a mustang or another sports car to feel young and good about myself, trust me, no neons or altezzas will be present. :nice:

Man, you must get a ton of use from your Xbox and LCD screen in your Mustang... Ok look, I don't really want to flame you, but man...Ok, the neons, MAYBE, just MAYBE, I could let that slide, but Altezzas? Now you got an official rice-stang. :chair: I don't mean any offense BUT, I can't see how someone can put Altezzas on anything and say it looks good. Anyway, before i get too :OT: , I say supercharge your V6. You'll have way more fun with it than you would a V8. Besides, a supercharged V6 can hand a V8 it's a$$, which is why alot of V8 guys say buy the V8....wouldn't want too many supercharged V6 sleepers running around out there, now, would they? ;) But I guess, one way to look at it is...no matter what, you'll still have a Mustang, and that's what counts. :flag:
