That thing is cool. There are some more interesting pictures of it out there.
One of the interesting things about it is it is what they refer to as a "cross head" (I think) piston design. The piston rides on an intermidiate rod that locates it from side to side and attaches it to the regular connecting rod. This keeps the piston from scuffing the cylinders too hard by taking up the side loads.
I can't remember exactly what the fuel is called that it runs on, but it's not diesel. It's like one step up from straight Crude oil and is thicker than molasses.
